Maria Robotnik is a posthumous supporting character from the Sonic the Hedgehog Archie Comic series. She was Shadow the Hedgehog's best friend in life and she continues to leave an impact long after her death.
Biography[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series by Archie Comics, Maria was a young female overlander, a different type of human, who was the daughter of Gerald Robotnik and Meredith Sanders, and a member of the House of Ivo. Suffering from NIDS (Neuro-Immuno Deficiency Syndrome), Maria was looked after by her paternal grandfather Professor Gerald Robotnik, who made Shadow the Hedgehog to develop a cure for her. When the military attempted to seize Shadow, Maria was killed by them when trying to help Shadow escape. A year after his awakening, Shadow encountered a digital version of Maria who helped him uncover his purpose.
Following the events of Worlds Collide, Maria became virtually indistinguishable from her game counterpart.
