Maria von Messina is one of the main tritagonists of the series Wise Man's Grandchild. She is the red-haired second daughter of a Countess and is a friend to Sicily. Her title is Valkyrie and is the 3rd S-rank.
She is voiced by Yūki Wakai in Japanese, and by Katelyn Barr in English.
Biography[]
As a noble, at some point she had met Prince August in the past and has been friends with Sicily since early childhood. Maria encounters Shin when she and Sicily being harassed by demon hunters and saves them. Later they all have coffee and all realize they are all enrolling in the academy. On the first day at the Advanced Magic Academy, Maria overhears August and Shin's conversation, which makes her wonder who Shin really is. She is really amazed when Shin gets first place on the entry exam and exponentially surprised to find out that Shin is the Wise Man's grandson.
Personality[]
Maria is a very upfront and vocal lady; she is also an obsessive fangirl of Merlin and Melida. She teases Sicily over her crush on Shin and tries to offer her support in their relationship. Due to her indifference, Shin does not treat her like a nobleman's daughter. She does not like her title as it implies she will be a virgin for the rest of her life and never get married. She is pushy and a bit manipulative as she used Shin to stop Kurt von Ritzburg from harassing Sicily. However, despite her attitude, she is Sicily's best friend and would do anything for her. She helped bring Shin and Sicily together as a couple. She feels jealous towards her friends who are already in relationships as she is still single. She says that she missed all the opportunities that she had of finding a boyfriend that she liked.
Abilities[]
- Fire Magic:Maria can unleash intense blasts of fire capable of leaving large craters in the ground and blowing holes through buildings.
- Lightning Magic:Maria is able to release bolts of lightning, which she used to take down a catastrophic demon bear during a training exercise.
