Marie is the deuteragonist of the Splatoon franchise. She is one half of the popular Inkopolis duo, the Squid Sisters, alongside her cousin Callie, and she also secretly works as Agent 2 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon.
She is voiced by Mari Kikuma.

Personality[]
In contrast to her couin Callie, Marie is far more reserved. She is shown to be sarcastic at times, often throwing around snarky comments at others, particularly Callie. She can also be somewhat lazy, and states the best part of the job that she and Callie took at Walleye Warehouse was quitting. Despite giving Callie plenty of snark, she does care deeply for her cousin, seen in the Squid Sisters Stories, and in Splatoon 2's Hero Mode, where she is very worried after Callie disappears.
Biography[]
Splatoon[]
Marie appears alongside Callie during the Inkopolis News section, revealing the current stages in rotation, as well as hosting the Splatfests. She also appears as Agent 2 during Hero Mode, where she, along with Callie, guides Agent 3 after their grandfather Cap'n Cuttlefish gets kidnapped by DJ Octavio. She and Callie also sing the Calamari Inkantation during Agent 3's fight, which later proves to be a significant act as this allows many Octarians (or at least Octolings) to break free of DJ Octavio's control, including Marina Ida and Agent 8.
Splatoon 2[]
After the events of the first Splatoon's final Splatfest, the Squid Sister's popularity rose to never seen before heights. However, the two cousins pursue their own solo careers, causing a rift between them, and Callie eventually goes missing. After Marie notices that the Great Zapfish and DJ Octavio have both also gone missing, she worries that Callie's disappearance is connected to them. She decides to recruit a new Inkling to the New Squidbeak Splatoon, with them being Agent 4, to help find the Great Zapfish. Eventually, Marie tells Agent 4 that she is also looking for Callie. Marie and Agent 4 eventually find Callie, now brainwashed into serving DJ Octavio. Marie uses a special substance she made called the low-tide ink to free Callie from her brainwashing, and then the two of them, now reunited, sing a remix of the Calamari Inkantation called the Spicy Calamari Inkantation as Agent 4 uses a modified version of the Rainmaker given to them by Sheldon to defeat Octavio, saving the Great Zapfish once more.
Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion[]
Marie appears as a cameo character in this DLC Pack for Splatoon 2, where she appears on a bonus session of a chatroom initially created by Marina, where she checks in on her grandfather Craig Cuttlefish and makes sure he is okay, saying that she will make him seaweed stew when he returns from the Deepsea Metro.
Splatoon 3[]
Marie appears alongside Callie and the former Agent 3, who has been promoted to the role of the Captain of the New Squidbeak Splatoon after Cuttlefish retired. The three intoduce themselves to the New Agent 3 following the new agent's fight with DJ Octavio and subsequently falling brelow the Crater and into Alterna. The Splatoon then meet Deep Cut for the first time, with Deep Cut revealing that they are bandits and try to threaten the NSS. The new Agent 3 eventually defeats the three members of Deep Cut and gets the pieces of treasure they were guarding, while Cuttlefish is revealed to be kidnapped by Mr. Grizz.
Marie suggests the NSS can use the treasure they got from Deep Cut in order to clear away all of the lethal Fuzzy Ooze blocking the path to the space centre where Cuttlefish and Mr. Grizz are located. After reassembling the treasure into a machine the Captain uses to trim away all of the ooze, Deep Cut show up again and threaten the Splatoon once more into giving them back the treasure. Marie states that they're done with it and that they can have it, woth her kindness shocking them and causing the trio to feel guilty for fighting the Splatoon, and even asks Marie to be their new boss, and while Callie is on board with the idea, Marie just states that she has to approve their time cards.
The Splatoon eventually find Cuttlefish, who has been completely dehydated by Mr. Grizz, who reveals his plans to bring back the mammals, who have all gone extinct, by covering the planet in fuzzy ooze, which would also cause the marine life that currently roam the Earth to be effectively wiped out to make way for the mammals.
After the Captain sheds a tear on Cuttlefish's body, it is revealed he is alive, despite being stuck in his drained-up squid form. When the Squid Sisters have an epiphany regarding Grizz's plans and are unsure how to stop him, Deep Cut show up and help the New Agent 3 reach the rocket that Mr. Grizz took off on, with Frye creating a chain of eels to use a pathway, Shiver lending them her shark Master Mega to ride on, and Big Man giving them a space headset/helmet so that they can breathe in space while they fight Mr. Grizz.
Later, Marie, as well as Callie and Deep Cut, sing a new remix of the Calamari Inkantation which has a mystical aura that powers up Smallfry and allows it to transform into the Hugefry so that it can fight Grizz to distract him while New Agent 3 and DJ Octavio vacuum up the balls of fuzzy ooze on Grizz's body and then fire all of the ooze back at the bear, defeating him and saving the world, as well as the Great Zapfish again.
Trivia[]
- Marie possibly has an unknown connection to Toni Kensa, as his family logo is on the kimono Marie wears during Splatoon 2's Hero Mode. Toni Kensa's models also seem to have white hair, which isn't usual for Inklings, and is similar to Marie's hair.
- Marie was on Team Order for the Chaos vs. Order Splatfest in reference to her quiter and cleaner personality, compared to Callie's.
- Dialogue in Splatoon 2's Hero Mode suggests Marie knows the Octarian language to some extent.
