Marina is a character in the Silverwing series. She was banished from her Brightwing colony due to the fact she had a band. She appears in the first three books (Silverwing, Sunwing, and Firewing). Her son is Griffin and her mate is Shade.
In the Books[]
Silverwing[]
After Shade got separated from his colony by a storm, he met Marina on an Island and she let him stay. After mentioning the band on her forearm Marina told him that she was banished from her colony after the humans put it on her because it marked certain death such as bursting into flames and getting frostbite. Shade told Marina about his elder Frieda and how she was banded and still lived to that given day. Marina wanted to join Shades colony since they accepted anyone in wether they were banded or not. So they set off the Island and Marina helped Shade to reunite with his colony at Hibernaculum.

While Shade and the other males stayed in Stone Hold, Marina gave birth to Griffin at the new Tree Haven.
After Griffin had accidentally set fire to the back of his best friend Luna, Marina told him the painful truth that it may cause her death. Griffin got frightened and descended down the trunk of Tree Haven. Marina decided to leave him alone while she helped the others heal Luna. An earthquake occurred which buried Griffin alive, killed Luna, and injured Marinas wing. Shade and the other messengers arrived at Tree Haven and investigated the damage. After Shade got Marina out of the wreckage she told him about their son and sang out the image of what he looked like to him. Shade and Marina learned that Griffin was in the Underworld where it was rumoured that nobody returned. Shade denied it and said the stories had to come from someone. Before he set off Marina wanted to come with him. Shade insisted that she stayed at Tree Haven to heal. Marina was disgusted at how unfair her condition was but she listened.
At the end Griffin and Luna were brought back to the world of the living and reunited with their mothers. Marina and Griffin were unaware that Shade was with them too.
