Shake, shake!
~ Marina Liteyears' most common move.

The Ultra-Intergalactic-Cybot G Marina Liteyears is the main protagonist in Mischief Makers. She is very kind, caring, and is respected by the Clancer inhabitants. Her duty and the reason for her creation is to protect Professor Theo, a genius in robotics as well as her creator.

After Theo is kidnapped by members of the Evil Empire, Marina sets out to rescue him. She goes through difficult puzzles, hordes of enemies, and souped-up anthropomorphic mecha-beasts.

After Theo's rescue, provided Marina has successfully collected every last Gold Gem, Marina is made human by an elder Clancer, Geold, where - depending on the age the player's specified age - has either the appearance of a young girl (00-15 years old) or a young adult woman (16-99 years), both having short, sleek hair and a red and white dress.

Her main way of attacking is by grabbing and throwing. While grabbing she can have the option of moving and jumping with the object/character in hand. Marina also can shake objects and characters and maybe even get an item or gem. Marina is also famous for her slider kick which can give her a massive boost in jumping. She also has a jet-pack booster which helps her go travel faster when the need arises.

Personality[]

Marina comes across as a considerate and polite young lady, who is one of determination and honor and is held in higher regards by people like Teran, Celes, the Clancer Family and a couple of others as well. She isn't without flaws as she can also be hostile and aggressive when provoked and people disesteeming themselves is one of her pet peeves. She can also be very sarcastic with her foes, which can get them mad and want to attack her as a result and has problems in regard to apprehension when she often attacks and even throws Prof. Theo across the planet whenever he tried to sneak up on her each time she saves him. She seems to break the fourth wall quite often, indicating that she knows she is in a fictional world.

Biography[]

Planet Clancer[]

Marina Liteyears and Professor Theo arrive on Planet Clancer to do their studies on the inhabitants and their culture there. Marina forbids Theo from joining her while she scouts the area. Marina leaves Theo alone on their ship while doing her thing; but it turned out to be a huge mistake as the now completely vulnerable Prof. is ambushed and captured by an army of hostile Clancers. It doesn't take long to see what happened and gives chase, but they got away with Theo in tow; she would meet some of the more friendlier Clancers that give her gameplay basics and would meet other inhabitants Teran, Celes, and Geold as well. She encounters Calina, dressed up like her and taunts her that she has caused trouble using her name before fleeing, which angers Marina. She contributes to helping the Clancer Parents bringing home their three children, kept her promise to Teran in finding his missing sister, Celes and fighting a giant worm to protect Celes. Marina returns to the village that is being attacked by outlaws of the desert that are trying to steal their treasure and helps Teran and their treasure keeper fend them off. Marina would then travel back to the desert where she would fight hostile enemies and escape an ongoing volcanic eruption that would lead her to Migen's Shrine.

Migen's Shrine[]

Marina goes through the dangerous conditions of the lava fields, from escaping crumbling red bricks from severe tremers and fighting a giant bee, to riding tightropes via Clanballs, and eventually facing off against the Migens, who are holding Prof. Theo hostage, saying that she will teach them a lesson. Migen Sr. summons Migen Jr. to the frey and eats Theo before engaging with Marina, which Marina must catch Jr.'s punches and direct them at Migen Sr. to ensure he does not try to heal Jr. This will make Jr. angry and will punch at Marina mercilessly and she must catch them to defend herself and catch him for real to turn his attacks against him and emerges victorious and Prof. Theo is freed. However, her actions have attracted the attention of the Evil Emperor and orders The Beastector to bring her and Theo back alive; Lunar steps in but is extremely vengeful to the point where he wants to kill them. Later, Marina is talking to "Theo", but he doesn't answer and tries to get his attention but soon realizes that it was a decoy and there was a note attached to it and learns that Lunar had captured Prof. Theo and immediately takes action by heading to Mt. Snow where Lunar is said to be located.

Mt. Snow[]

Marina arrives at Mt. Snow where she learns to utilize the power of the Clanpot to make progress for the rest of the game. She goes through a brutal war between the Clancers and faces off against a robot. She would also go through a maze where she must go through the obstacles in her way and fight the military leader riding a robot that had kidnapped Theo at the very beginning of her adventure. She fights a feral blue canine creature and goes through another maze in a harsh blizzard and brings the Clancer children to their playground. As she goes through the blizzard, she becomes cold and tired while admiring the snow's beauty, but it gets cut short when Lunar arrives to challenge her to a battle, but the conditions had irritated his nose to the point of sneezing often during his introduction. Marina is able to defeat him and wanted answers, but Lunar tells her that he no longer has him, and he had only lost due to the cold. Marina reminds him not to fall asleep by accident, otherwise he could get a cold before leaving the area. With the weather now clear, she soon finds a group of Clancers that are preparing for the upcoming Athletic Festival and meets with the Hospital Dr., who tells her that Geold had died a few days before and asks if she would like to join the White Team since the said team is weak and in need of a boost. Prof. Theo is the Grand Prize for the winning team and Marina agrees to join them in hopes of getting Theo back. She is able to complete all seven events with the most points for her team. Cat Clancer arrives to tell them that Lunar has kidnapped Theo while she was taking part in the Athletic Festival and they made an agreement that if Marina wins the game of Dodgeball game, she will take her to them. Marina completes the game on top and Cat Clancer gives her tips on how to defeat Lunar. Both of them engage in battle together with Lunar and his motorcycle, the CERBERUS α. Marina rides Cat Clancer and the latter is capable of riding missiles (which she states that it annoys Lunar), and they manage to defeat him and save Theo. Back at the ship, it's full of missiles and Prof. Theo is confident that he will fight back this time and not worry about being captured. Marina gets a phone call and goes to the other room to answer it. Calina (disguised as Marina) manages to capture Theo with little effort, and as Marina returns, Theo is already gone with Calina and Marina goes after them to Aster's Cavern.

Aster's Cavern[]

Marina is soon chased by a giant boulder that she must race to the Warp Gate before it and battles Toady-Raw. She then meets the Clancer Parents again and the mother tells her that she added four more kids to her family, making it a total of seven and they have gone missing, and she agrees to help them again. Through each Clancer kid she saves, she learns that Calina is responsible for transforming them into dangerous weapons that she must fight to give them their freedom. She also learns that Celes is kidnapped by Calina while this happened. With all seven restored to normal and returned to their parents, the mother explains the history of the Evil Empire's take over and that their king, Aster has gone into hiding somewhere in the cave and they are after the royal family due to the fact that the Clancers answer to their rightful ruler. Marina realizes that Calina is after Teran and Celes and is sure that Teran has inner strength despite looking weak and goes to search for them. Calina holds Celes hostage as she mocks Teran that she will go after the king after dealing with him and Celes. Teran gives up hope and Marina appears before them, and scolds Teran for selling himself short so quickly and easily dispatches Calina, freeing Celes. She then comforts her and that she must be strong. Leo laughs as he sarcastically calls her a grown-up and appears before them, and Marina jumps between the duo and Leo. She is easily struck down by the emperor rendering her in a comatose state. Celes mourns her and Teran resolves to find the healing capsule to bring her back to life and eventually defeats Calina and he finds the capsule, which Marina is contained in and is revived, and she is able to continue her journey. She meets Tarus, who is out to avenge Lunar's critical state, and they exchange heated words before they begin fighting and Marina is able to best him. Tarus accepts defeat and warns her that they will have a rematch. Marina had told him that killing other people isn't her style just as kidnapping isn't Tarus's style. She finds King Aster and helps him rid the cave of the thirteen ghosts that haunt it and returns his Tryke while avoiding a dangerous wave of water behind her. She battles Moley Cow and meets with the king again and goes through the maze to reach Tarus, who was waiting for her and is on his tank, the SASQUATCH β and after a tough battle, she beats him and saves Prof. Theo once again.

Imperial HQ[]

At this point, Marina takes desperate measures and sits closer to the door to ensure no unwanted entry. However, there were Clancers in the attic to get Marina to go after them. This was another distraction for the military leader to kidnap Theo (and succeeded and bringing him to Leo), and Marina returns and is frustrated as she sets course for the Imperial HQ. She is met with an army of Clancers that attempt to intercept her invasion, but to no avail as she makes her way through. She then rides the ostrich in a battle against the military leader riding his big robot and throws his bombs back at him. She makes an alliance with her former enemy, the Flambéé from Migen's Shrine; who lets her ride in on her journey through a series of missiles and Jetpack Clancers to the end. Marina is soon met with Merco, who is out to avenge both his fallen comrades. He flirts with her for a moment and was being very polite to her, but Marina doesn't seem to notice this and asks him if he is one of the stage bosses she would have to fight next. Merco replies that he is more than a stage boss and his tone darkens as he calls her out for not showing respect and while he is against fighting girls, he will make an exception and they had a dual which Marina is victorious. Merco tells her that her destiny is to destroy the emperor and fill in that Leo brainwashed the Clancers and provided them weapons to carry out his purpose. Marina is surprised by his sudden solemn tone as she thought they were just horsing around and departs. She then goes through a tougher puzzle through statues, Clanballs, and Clanbombs, and kills an evil pirate. She soon has a rematch with Merco again, this time an aerial battle where he uses a flying drill, the PHOENIX γ, but despite being a tougher adversary, Marina makes it through and bests him. Marina finally arrives where Leo is lecturing The Beastector for their failure to bring Prof. Theo to him and they refused to cooperate with him any further as they had realized that they were in the wrong the entire time. Marina challenges Leo to a decisive battle, where Marina must shake the clouds with negative words and powers them up to positive words and she is able to defeat the Evil Emperor. Leo crumbles into a sobbing wreak, saying that he had loved his brother Theo so much, that he though their goals were the same, but was proven wrong. He had longed to be defeated by his own brother but is in despair over the fact that it was Marina who had beaten him at his own game. Before dying, Leo attempted to use the same projectile against Marina that had left her in critical condition in Aster's Cavern, but Prof. Theo pushes her away and takes the blow. Prof. Theo looks to be near death and tells her that he had always thought of her as a daughter, but he apparently succumbs, leaving Marina to briefly mourn for him before he suddenly gets up and told her that his "death" was a lie, which angers Marina and throws him into space. Following these events, Lunar, Tarus, and Merco approach her and seem to hold her in higher regard and wants her to battle them again, but they seem to want her to join their fan clubs (which they briefly argue over), and they used their machines from their second battle to assemble a giant robot for her to fight, but after a hard battle, Marina is triumphant and Planet Clancer is at peace.

Ending[]

Marina and Theo return to the village in the first level and Celes and Teran are really happy to see them, but they soon bow to their king, Aster who had emerged from hiding and thanked Teran for protecting his only daughter, Celes, whose real name was Ondine. Celes has an emotional reunion with her lost father. They had a coordination ceremony where Ondine was crowned the new Queen. Marina is having a stroll while Teran is running away from his own personal problems and insecurities. Teran will attack her and pass her and breaks down in tears, leaving it to Sarie, who talks some sense into him and high jump kicks him back to Ondine and begins crying himself. If Marina achieves the A rank by having the most A rankings in various levels, she can grab Teran before he attacks her and Teran will admit to lying to Ondine and asks how he could possibly stand before her. Marina tells him to forget the past and he should just be himself, and he should be at Celes's side where he should be. She then throws him back, where Ondine appoints him as her permanent bodyguard. Marina will then speak to Sarie, who is grateful for helping Teran regain his confidence and gives her a Gold Gem as he leaves. Marina and Prof. Theo leave Planet Clancer and head into deep space. After Geold has restored The Beastector trio to their human forms, he proceeds to outer space and enters the ship where he asks Marina if she would like to be human. Marina asks if he is sure, gives it some thought and accepts his offer. Geold accidentally gets it wrong and turns her into a pink panda bear, and returns to her former self, much to Marina's embarrassment. Geold apologizes and uses his magic sceptor on her again and this time, he is successful. Depending on the chosen age at the beginning of the game; Marina is either a child (if 00-15) or an adult (16-99), and Prof. Theo is amazed by her new human form.

Trivia[]

  • A running gag involves Marina instinctively throwing Professor Theo whenever he tries to hug her every time, she saves him. This was the impression that she clearly isn't the affectionate type.
    • Another one involves her getting easily distracted, which makes Prof. Theo completely open to a kidnapping.
  • If Marina is idle for a long enough period of time, she will sing to herself until the player moves her.
