Marine the Raccoon is a supporting character in the Archie comics and spin-offs Sonic the Hedgehog. She is a hyperactive mobian raccoon and sailor, and a resident of Seagull Island in the Sol Zone. A lover of excitement and constantly seeking adventures, she is a friend of Blaze the Cat, Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, and other allies of the pair from Sonic's World.
Appearance[]
Marine is an anthropomorphic orange raccoon with a white muzzle, a small rear nose and light blue eyes with a long lash on each and has brown and cream spots around them. It has cream-colored brown triangular ears inside and brown rings around its rounded tail. It has two inverted "braids" with brown tips held together by yellow ties. She wears a lime green sheath top with white trim, cropped black leggings, tan gloves, white socks, and lime green and orange shoes with gray soles.
Personality[]
Marine is often cheeky and confident, but also quite careless and often acts without thinking first. She bullies herself to get attention, which at times makes her pushy, but despite this she has good intentions. She is also exaggerated and embellished as she always tries to be important and haughty, which is why she annoys others.
Powers and Abilities[]
Marine has some general captaining skills, able to handle a large boat like the Ocean Tornado; she also has limited knowledge of mechanics. Additionally, Marine has some form of energy-projecting ability.
Trivia[]
- Marine often uses the word "strewth" in her sentences. In the real world in British English, "strewth" means "God's truth". In Australia and New Zealand, it can also be used as an expression of surprise, or to add emphasis. Writer Ian Flynn admitted he had assumed the word in Australia had the meaning "truth" similar to in England. This mistake was made again in the letters page of Sonic Universe #4 where the editor said that strewth meant "and that's the truth!"
