Martine Bancroft

Martine Bancroft is the deuteragonist of the 2022 film, Morbius.

Martine is also the fiancée of Michael Morbius.

Martine is portrayed by Adria Arjona.

Biography[]

Morbius[]

At Michael Morbius' lab, his colleague and fiancée, Martine derides him for illegal experiments he is conducting; with piranhaiac vampire bats that; he had illegally stolen from the Amazon Rainforest. After Michael has received the funding to continue his experiments on a cargo ship in international waters, Martine absentmindedly opens his containment field, causing Michael to escape and massacre the entire crew, draining them of their blood; during the conflict, Martine is rendered comatose after tripping and hitting her head on the ground.

Later, Michael checks in on the still comatose Martine at their hospital. After she has woken up, Michael meets up; with Martine, telling her of Milo's involvement and asking her to stay away from him. Michael acquires a new lab from some counterfeiters to work from, developing a compound to commit suicide, but finds himself reluctant to.

But unfortunately, Milo eventually; makes his way to Martine and mortally wounds her. Hearing her final moments, Michael; makes his way across the city and holds her in his arms as she dies, before feeding on her blood. Michael then mourns both Milo and Martine, before he takes flight; with the vampire bats swarm in full sight of the city; embracing his new identity as a vampire.

Unbeknownst to Michael, Martine is brought back to life; by her newly developed vampire powers and physiology.

Personality[]

Martine is a strong willed individual who cares deeply about her patients and her work as a doctor. She has strong romantic feelings for fellow doctor, Michael Morbius as they are engaged and often worries about him as he repeatedly undertakes dangerous experiments. Since Michael became a vampire, Martine found the Idea intriguing of becoming a vampire herself likely; due to a craving for the power. When she was at death's door, Martine saw her opportunity to join her fiancée as a vampire and drank his blood, therefore; getting what she wanted.

Living Vampire Physiology: Due to consuming Michael Morbius's vampiric blood; Martine possesses superhuman attributes; such as superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, reflexes, stamina, senses, accelerated perception and an accelerated healing factor respectively.
- Transformation: Martine is capable of transforming between her human and humanoid bat forms; at will.
- Superhuman Strength: Martine is much stronger than normal humans and most other superhumans; for example, she is able to overpower a group of humans relatively easily. Martine's strength is also at least; rivaled only; by other living vampires; such as Milo and Michael respectively.
- Superhuman Durability: Martine is far more durable than normal humans and most other superhumans; for example, she can withstand great impacts; such as surviving falls from tremendous heights that; would have severely injured or kill a normal human.
- Superhuman Speed: Martine is much faster than normal humans and most other superhumans; for example, she can generate an aura of energy currents and mist-like shapes; into her movements. Martine can also move so fast that; she looks like that; she is turning into mist, but in truth; she is actually moving too fast for the human eye to see.
- Superhuman Agility: Martine is far more agile than normal humans and most other superhumans.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Martine's reflexes are much faster than normal humans and most other superhumans; for example, she can dodge or counter any attacks; such as gunfire; even at point-blank range.
- Superhuman Stamina: Martine possesses far more stamina than normal humans and most other superhumans; allowing her to remain physically active for long periods of time.
- Superhuman Senses: Martine's senses are far more greatly developed than normal humans and most other superhuman; for example, she can pick up; even the faintest of sounds and smells over small or vast distances.

- Gliding: Via air or wind currents; Martine is able to glide at amazing speeds and at high altitudes; simulating flight.
- Razor-sharp teeth: Martine possesses razor-sharp teeth that; are capable of biting through most other materials; such as flesh, wood, stone and metal respectively.
- Razor-sharp claws: Martine possesses five razor-sharp claws on each of his hands that; are capable of cutting through most other materials; such as flesh, wood, stone and metal respectively.
- Wall-crawling: Martine is able to stick or grip onto any surface; much like any bat would; by using her fingertips and feet.
- Echolocation: By manipulating reflected sound or sound waves; Martine is able to locate objects or other individuals over small or vast distances.
- Vampirization: Martine is able turn other humans; into other living vampires; when they are exposed to her vampiric blood.

Genius-Level Intellect: Martine is a highly intelligent individual; she was able to figure out that; Michael Morbius' password is the first six digits of pi backwards; due to the fact that; he uses it for everything. Martine is also one of the most intelligent individuals on the entire planet.
Expert Medic: Martine is a highly skilled doctor.

Weaknesses[]

Antibody: Due to the fact that; Martine's living vampire physiology is similar to that; of actual bats; she is vulnerable to antibody, if she is injected; with a massive amount of this serum; it will kill her.
Bloodlust: Due to the fact that; Martine's living vampire physiology is similar to that; of actual bats; particularly vampire bats; she has a thirst for human blood.
Lack of flight: Martine cannot actually fly; as she can only glide; via air or wind currents; without these said air or wind currents; Martine will be unable to glide through the sky.
Mortality: Despite Martine's superhuman levels of durability and healing; she is not immortal. As she can be killed; just like any other living being.

Former Weaknesses[]

Lack of control: When Martine transformed; into her humanoid bat form for the first time; she was extremely feral; as she did not have any awareness or control over any of her actions. But after Martine came out of her feral state; she now has complete awareness and control over all of her actions.

In the comics, Martine Bancroft was the fiancé of Michael Morbius; before becoming one of his victims and a vampire in her own right. She then served as an enemy and ally of her old love.
It's unknown if Michael has notice Martine is now a vampire meaning there are now one who are made for each other.
Martine is the second leading female and love interest who supports one of Spider-Man's rouges when the first was Anne Weying from Venom. While others such as Mary Jane Watson, Gwen Stacy and Michelle Jones Watson are only Spiderman's main love interest who are inspire for Martine.
