|“||I feel you ought to know I'm feeling very depressed.||„|
|~ Marvin's most famous quote.|
Marvin is a robot from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He suffers from Major Depressive Disorder, and is a prototype of GPP (Genuine People Personality). He is also very old; at one point he waited millions of years in a Car Park, where he was parking cars. He made the ultimate sacrifice by teleporting his crew away from a ship when it was heading for the sun. Marvin is also extremely intelligent at least 50000 times smarter than the average human, claiming that he has a brain the size of a planet. He could bore other robots to death with his depressed and pessimistic nature.
He was voiced by the late Stephen Moore in the original radio show and the 1981 miniseries, and by the late Alan Rickman (who also portrayed Severus Snape) in the 2005 movie adaptation. He is seen by most to be the most popular and iconic character from the franchise.
