Mary is a major character in the dark fantasy and action light novel, manga, and anime series The Eminence in Shadow. She is a renowned vampire huntress despite being a vampire herself as well as the former most loyal servant of the Vampire Progenitor and Blood Queen Elisabeth.

She is voicced by Ai Kakuma in Japanaese and by Katelyn Barr in English.

Appearance[]

Mary is an attractive lean vampiress of towering height with long crimson red-colored hair and amber-colored eyes. Due to being relatively serious, she typically carries a stern expression. During the Red Moon Incident, she was dressed like a navigator or a pirate, an outfit comprised of a black coat that is cut all around with golden accents and some red features, and a ruffled jabot orned with a red gem below her neck. The right side of her hair was also tied in three braids put above her shoulder. She wears a navigator hat on her head, orned with two feathers at the back top. Her legs wore black leggings with red bandages around her thights and a pair of high heels.

Personality[]

As the loyal servant of the Blood Queen who is also known to be benevolent, Mary encompasses a compassionate nature, which differs from the usual depiction of her kind. Regardless she remains serious and stern typically. She never views humans as mere prey, instead consistently offering assistance to those in distress. After Elisabeth's violent outburst, Mary found a new purpose in life. She dedicated herself to tirelessly pursuing her former mistress and pledged to eradicate any vampire endangering human lives. Her steadfast devotion to her master, Elisabeth, is unmatched, preventing her from ever defying orders or inflicting harm upon her. Mary's resolve to protect Elisabeth from threats like Crimson is unyielding. Learning that Claire Kagenou's younger brother, Cid, was in danger, she began right away to look for him, showing her sense of justice and will to protect those precious to others. Unbeknownst to her that Cid Kagenou and Shadow are the same person, she is also very gratful and bears high respect for Shadow for helping freeing Elisabeth when she initially believed that he was gonna use his Recovery Atomic attack to finish her off, hoping that she can pay him back for helping Elisabeth.
