Mason Weaver is the tritagonist of the 2017 action adventure film Kong: Skull Island, the second installment in Legendary's MonsterVerse franchise.
She is an anti-war photographer and investigative photojournalist who was hired for the 1973 Monarch expedition by William Randa and is later the one who bonds with Kong.
Kong: Skull Island
Mason is an "anti-war" photographer who joins the expedition to Skull Island after her contact Jerry tells her she got the job. She intends to expose the "expedition" as a shady operation, but gets caught up in the action when she is stranded on the island along with Conrad and his group.
Mason is the first human to interact with Kong peacefully, and realizes his true benevolent nature. As such, she, along with James Conrad and Marlow, try to save Kong from Packard, and later aid him in the battle with the biggest Skullcrawler by firing a flare into its eye and blinding it. During the fight, she is thrown into the water, where she nearly drowns, but is saved by Kong who scoops her from the swamp, kills the Skullcrawler trying to eat her, and gently laying her on the bank. She is later rescued by helicopters along with the other survivors.
In a post-credits scene, Mason and James are taken to Monarch headquarters, where she is briefed on the existence of Godzilla and three other monsters.
- Weaver's actress, Brie Larson, would later work with Samuel L. Jackson in Captain Marvel, and Tom Hiddleston in Avengers: Endgame.
- She is the only person to touch Kong.
