Mail Jeevas, better known as Matt, is a minor antagonist in the second half of Death Note.
He's an accomplice with the Kira case, acting as Mello's backup. Matt likes video games and dislikes going outside. In the anime, he is rarely seen. He is only seen again during Kiyomi Takada's kidnapping, where he distracts her bodyguards with a smoke grenade launcher, allowing Mello to kidnap her. When he was cornered, he tried to put up another smokescreen. Matt pretends to calmly surrender to the bodyguards but was shot multiple times to death.
He is voiced by Tomohiro Nishimura in the Japanese version, and by Drew Nelson in the English version.
Appearance[]
Matt has brown hair and green eyes that are hidden behind white goggles with orange lens. He is seen wearing a red and black striped long-sleeved top, and blue pants. His hands are covered with black gloves that reach just below the elbow, and he wears black boots. He also wears a cream colored sleeveless vest with fur trim.
Personality[]
Matt is the only Wammy's kid (apart from Linda) with a relatively normal personality and while he knows nothing about Shinigami or killer notebooks, he still goes along for the ride when Mello chases after Kira.
Quotes[]
“ | Because they haven’t came out I can suspect that this place is their headquarters, Anyway it’s so boring watching something that has no movement, (PIPI PiKOO) |

Trivia[]
- Matt only appears in a mere sixteen panels of the manga, but is extremely popular in the fandom, to the point where if you were unfamiliar with the series you'd think he was one of the main characters. Or that his relationship with Mello was canonically romantic.
- He has a gaming channel with 100 million subscribers
- His hair and eye colors were not defined in the manga for a very long time. The anime (and later a colorized manga publication) presented his hair as being brown (though it looked a bit green depending on the lighting), and his eye color as blue. In one of the video games, his hair was a light blue, and his eye color could not be discerned. And on a trading card, his hair was a straight-up green.
- His apartment is littered with snack food wrappers and cereal boxes.
