Max Keenan is a major character in the tv series Bones. He is the father of Temperance Brennan who was forced to leave her as a child in order to protect her from his criminal associates. He returns to her life during the course of the show annd gradually rebuilds his relationship with her.
Biography[]
Max spent most of his life as a criminal engaging in various unethical dealings. During this time Max hade a code of honor about never harming an innocent but was ruthless, having a man who kidnapped his son Russ to lure him out murdered. Max's wife was killed by one of his associates and he left in order to protect his two children.
Max ultimately returned and killed FBI director Robert Kirby to protect Brennan which he was almost sent to prison for but Brennan was able to create enough reasonable doubt to let him be released. During this time Brennan's friend and partner Seeley Booth had repeatedly tried to bring Max to justice for his crimes but Max never held against him as he saw Booth genuinely cared for his daughter and hoped the two would act on their romantic feelings for each other, later being happy when they eventually did so.
During the Jeffersonian team's conflict with the Gravedigger Max attempted to murder her to keep Brennan safe but was prevented from doing so by Booth. Despite this Max continued to have a good relationship with his family and often helped look after his grandchildren.
Ultimately Max died bravely and honourably, protecting his grandchildren from assassins wo wanted to kill them.
