Maya
Yo! Name's Maya, nice to meet you.
~ Maya

Maya (摩耶?) was one of four Takao-class heavy cruisers, designed to be an improvement over the previous Myōkō-class design. These ships were fast, powerful and heavily armed, with enough firepower to hold their own against any cruiser in any other navy in the world. The Takao-class ships were approved under the 1927 fiscal year budget as part of the Imperial Japanese Navy's strategy of the Decisive Battle, and forming the backbone of a multipurpose long range strike force. Maya was built by the Kawasaki shipyards in Kobe. It shares its name with the early Japanese gunboat Maya, and per Japanese naval naming conventions, is named after a mountain, specifically Mount Maya outside of Kobe.

Appearance[]

Maya has blue eyes and short brown hair with a hairclip and masts on her head. She wears a sailor dress consisting of a blue sleeveless shirt, a white pleated skirt, black gloves and a belt around her waist.

For her second remodel, reflecting her refit as an AA Cruiser, she gains a new midriff baring uniform and a new rigging. She was given many AA guns and several AA Fire Detectors at various places on her body and rigging. She was also given a tiny hat and her "masts" have been simplified and a Fire Detector have been given to each.

Personality[]

She is a tomboyish and boisterous girl who is very tough and never messes around.

  • Her 1st upgrade represents her historical refit in Yokosuka, while her 2nd upgrade represents how she was converted into an Anti-Air Cruiser at Rabaul after getting damaged by the USS Saratoga.
