Biography[]
Planes[]
In Planes, Mayday is first seen taking fuel from Chug. He then leaves just before the delivery truck carrying Roper arrives in Propwash Junction. Later, Mayday cheers after Chug tells him and some other citizens that Dusty Crophopper is in the Wings Around the Globe.
At the end, he is seen in the crowd celebrating Dusty's victory.
Planes: Fire & Rescue[]
Following Dusty testing his limits when he gearbox was busted and it cannot be replaced, the crop duster loses control and crashes into the Fill 'n Fly, leading to the part of the structure he crashed into falling down and causing an explosion that evolves into a fire.
When Dusty alerts the town of the fire, Mayday rushes to the flames, nearly forgetting his glasses. When he tries to extinguish it with his hose, it starts to leak. This forces Mayday to call for a different plan, pulling down the water tower with the help of Chug, Dusty, and Skipper to trigger a flood that washes the fire out.
However, this culminates in Mayday being in trouble with Ryker of the T.M.S.T. (Transport Management Safety Team) who interrogates him about the fire. After asking Mayday asking if it was everyday he toppled the water tower and Dusty tries to take responsibility for the accident, Ryker strips Propwash Junction of its certification of operation until Mayday can get refurbished and a second firefighting vehicle is recruited to meet the safety standards of the T.M.S.T.
When everyone excited for the pending corn festival learn what happened, a panic ensues before Dottie proposes a rocket booster to be equipped on Mayday, Chug shoots this down and Dottie instead proposes that a second firefighting vehicle is recruited.
Dusty later visits Mayday at his home wishing he had something to do about this predicament. Dusty also looks at Mayday's wall of fame where he sees a firefighting plane in a picture where firefighting trainees are called seets. Dusty decides to try and become the second firefighting vehicle needed for Prowash to re-open.
Mayday sees Dusty off as he flies off to see Blade Ranger at Piston Peak National Park to try and become the second firefighter.
Later, Dusty learns from his friends from Propwash that Mayday is in the process of being refurbished and a new gearbox was supposedly found for Dusty.
After Maru rebuilds Dusty's gearbox when he destroyed it as a result of saving two elderly RVs and Cad Spinner loses his job as the superintendent as Piston Peak National Park to Ol'Jammer, Dusty returns to Propwash Junction as the second fire fighter in time to see it re-open with a refurbished Mayday in time for the corn festival.
Quotes[]
“
Mayday: "That was some pretty fancy flying, Dusty. Saw it all on my radio with pictures." Dusty Crophopper: "Um, you mean your TV." Mayday: "No, no. That's clearing up. My bumper was nearly corroded right through." Dusty Crophopper: "All right." Mayday: "Disgusting looking. Ah, yeah, it was all rusty and blistered." Dusty Crophopper: "I got it. Anyway, what else is going on?" Mayday: "Dottie gave me some of that Rust-eze Medicated Bumper Ointment." (Mayday turns around to show Dusty, Chug and Sparky his bumper, to which they react in shock, with Dusty looking away, and Sparky covering his eyes with his newspaper.) Mayday: "Ka-chow!" Dusty Crophopper: "Ah!" Mayday: "How's it look now?" Dusty Crophopper: "Looks great. Fine." Mayday: "Take a closer look." Dusty Crophopper: (looking back at Mayday) "That's close enough." (Mayday's tailpipe then falls underneath his undercarriage.) Dusty Crophopper: "Oh!" Mayday: "What was that?" Dusty Crophopper: "Uh... Didn't need to see that."

Ryker: "It's clear this airport has no plans for an emergency, and equipment from last century. So, unless Mr. Mayday gets refurbished, and acquires a second fire-fighting vehicle in accordance with CFR title 14, volume three, chapter one, section 139, sub-paragraph B, I am pulling this airport's certificate of operation for non-compliance of rescue and fire-fighting regulations." Mayday: "Oh, Chevy."

Dusty Crophopper: "I will." (flies off) Mayday: "Good luck, Dusty!"

Trivia[]
On Disney's website for Planes: Fire & Rescue, he is mistakenly referred to as "Mayfair".
He has a picture of himself with Sarge from Cars. This presumably implies that he met Sarge at one point in the past.
His design is based on the 1943 Fordson Tender.
In the sequel, Mayday uses Lightning McQueen's famous catchphrase: "Ka-chow!", although the home video subtitles say that he is sneezing. This implies that he is presumably a Lightning McQueen fan, despite taking Rust-eze.
Ironically, his name means an emergency procedure word to signal a life-threatening emergency by some countries and local organizations, such as firefighters. It is also a distress call used in ships and aircraft.
