The Mayor of Halloween Town is a major character of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. As his name suggests, he is the mayor of Halloween Town. His body (head included) is shaped like a cone. He wears a tall top-hat and suit with a spider bow-tie. He also wears a ribbon that says mayor on it. Being a politician, he is naturally "two-faced". He can rotate his head to appear as either happy or sad, depending on his mood.
He was voiced by the late Glenn Shadix, who also played Otho in Beetlejuice, another movie directed by Tim Burton.
The mayor was seen in the scene, "This is Halloween", where he was telling the viewer that the citizens are waiting for a next surprise and the mayor sung along with Ned and Bertha. The mayor became sad when Jack wasn't in his home. Jimmy says that he's not home when the mayor rolled down. Then, he announces to the citizens of Halloween Town that there's a town meeting. Then, he was seen holding up the search light and the mayor bumped into it and his face was turned to sad. Then, he was hit by Lock, Shock and Barrel and he gets mad and his spider tie bites him and he puts the spider back. Then, the mayor was seen wearing a flower when Jack is Sandy Claws. After Jack was shot down by the military, the mayor starts to sob and remove his flower. After Jack is revealed to be alive, the mayor reappears saying that he's blown up and killed and was blown up into a pile of dust. In the deleted scene, the trick-or-treaters followed him and they said that Jack's blown into a pile of dust. The mayor reappears when they searched for Jack in the scene in Oogie's lair. The mayor's final appearance was when he got a snowflake and turned his face happy.
