McGruff The Crime Dog is a anthropomorphic character from the McGruff The Crime Dog ads and public service announcements. He was first used in the 1960s when public figures were getting assassinated, such as John F Kennedy, Malcom X, and Martin Luther King Junior. He takes a bite out of crime, and appears in various commercials. Recently, he was featured in a GEICO commercial. The character can turn from live action to animated and is known for pausing time. He is able to predict crimes before they happend using his pre-detective skills. He rarely stop crimes but encourages you (the viewer) to do so. His design hasn't changed too much but it has become more cartoonish to fit the modern day aestethic and for budget reasons.
