Mecha Sonic MK.II is the secondary antagonist of Sonic and Knuckles and a supporting character in the IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comics. He is a robot created by Dr. Eggman in the image of Sonic.
Appearance[]
Mecha Sonic is a slender, albeit heavy robot resembling Sonic, but much taller than his counterpart. Originally he was sea blue, after being defeated he changed, he became faded from blue to rusty orange (except two places where the original painting is visible). Mecha also wears a torn white cape.
He also has broken limbs replaced with spare parts from other Badniks: his right arm is a Crabmeat's arm and his left leg is a Mecha-Buu's buzzsaw.

Sonic 3[]
Mecha Sonic first shows up in Sonic 3: Sonic and Knuckles Sonic first confronts Mecha Sonic in Sky Sanctuary while Sonic is tracking down the Death Egg. Mecha Sonic would end up defeated by Sonic, later Mecha Sonic would return but this time piloting the Egg Mobile. Sonic would end up defeating Mecha Sonic in a battle, in response Mecha Sonic malfunctions and Sonic speeds off to the Death Egg to destroy it.
Later in Knuckles story after the events of the Angel Island incident Knuckles travels to the Sky Sanctuary where Knuckles confronts Mecha Sonic. Mecha Sonic is seen using the master emerald to become Super Mecha Sonic, despite how powerful Mecha Sonic was in his super form Knuckles would end up defeating him for good. In the bad ending though Mecha Sonic can be seen recovering from the damage he sustained and can be seen absorbing power from the Master Emerald.
IDW Publishing[]
Mecha Sonic is the main antagonist of the Halloween spin off comic book series for the Sonic the hedgehog IDW Comics known as "Scrapnik Island". Mecha Sonic is first seen stalking Sonic along with the other Scrapniks in the abandoned Death Egg after Sonic woke up from crashing on the Death Egg with Tails in the Tornado. Mecha Sonic meets Sonic again after thier last encounter, Sonic is extremely shocked by this as he realizes that Mecha Sonic is still "alive". Sonic then becomes defensive believing that Mecha Sonic would try to attack him, Sigma comes in reassuring that Mecha Sonic was reprogrammed by him and Mecha Sonic now has free will. Sonic is then greeted by Tails who tells Sonic that the Scrapniks are the reason why he's in a foot cast. As Sonic sprained his ankle in the crash.
Later Tails reveals that the Tornado needs some parts due to the crash damaging the plane heavily. Sigma tells the duo that the part is guarded in an area which is guarded by Mecha Knuckles. The two end up fighting due to Mecha Knuckles becoming aggressive. Mecha Knuckles hit Mecha Sonic so hard that his old programming kicked in again, Mecha Sonic then becomes hostile and destroys Mecha Knuckles then kidnaps Sonic. Mecha Sonic then straps Sonic up to a machine in order for the two to swap bodies. Mecha Sonic is forced to get Tail's tablet to continue his plan, thus the two would end up fighting. Mecha Sonic says that he plans to make Robotnik come back because he had promised Mecha Sonic that they would take over the world together. Mecha Sonic says that he swears vengeance, Mecha Sonic nearly succeeds with his plan of body swapping with Sonic until the Scrapniks stop Mecha Sonic. Mecha Sonic enraged goes after them but later returns to his previous program. Mecha Sonic feels remorse as the fight between him and Sonic resulted in Mecha Sonic being near an incinerator. Sonic tries saving Mecha Sonic but Mecha rejects the opportunity because he sees himself as a failure for not being able to do anything right. Sonic, outraged by this demands that Mecha Sonic takes his hand so that he can save him. Sonic tells Mecha that he should live for himself and the things other people think don't matter. The comic ends with Mecha Sonic thanking Sonic for telling him that he shouldn't live for others.

Lego Dimensions[]
Mecha Sonic makes a brief appearance in Lego Dimensions as a boss in the level "Sonic Dimensions". After Sonic defeats Robo Sonic, Mecha Sonic appears in the second phase of the battle. His attack pattern is mostly the same as Robo Sonic's, but sometimes he will briefly fly up in the air and shoot projectiles at Sonic. Once he is defeated, Metal Sonic will take his place in the third phase.

Sonic the Hedgehog Minecraft Texture Pack[]
Mecha Sonic appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog Texture Pack created by Gamemode One, where he takes the place of the Wither mob. As soon as he reaches half health, he changes into his super form.
Powers and Abilities[]
Mecha Sonic is capable of performing deadly and sharp Spin Attacks. Despite being a heavy robot in less-than-ideal condition, he is surprisingly stealthy and agile, being able to avoid attacks or detection even in confined spaces and keeping up with an albeit injured Sonic. He is also quite resilient, and was able to take numerous blows from Mecha Knuckles and a direct-impact Spin Dash from Tails. Mecha Sonic even has the ability of flight.
As Super Mecha Sonic he has accesses to the abilities of Super forms. Such as things like flight, time manipulation teleportation and etc, etc.
Personality[]
Like Metal Sonic, Mecha is usually mute. However, unlike Metal Sonic, Mecha Sonic has decided to become a protector for the inhabitants of Scrapnik Island and not to devote his existence to fighting Sonic the Hedgehog or serving Doctor Eggman thanks to Sigma's reprogramming. But his programming was insufficient and Mecha did everything to keep himself under control.
And he is also aggressive towards enemies, especially after fighting Mecha Knuckles, so that his protocols and subroutines woke up and he got brain problems. Becoming willing to harm his fellow Scrapniks without hesitation, as he viciously attacks them. The old programming would reveal that Mecha Sonic has an inferiority complex, angry at being considered "trash" by his creator and his enemies. He had begged Eggman to help him, but the doctor abandoned him.
Thanks to Tails, he has managed to control himself and has become peaceful and has also learned to speak, albeit in a formal tone, in short sentences. Mecha Sonic has a passion for gardening, he often wishes to become a gardener to explore nature better as he genuinely likes Nature as a whole.

- Mecha Sonic Mk II was formerly the final antagonist from Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
- When Mecha Sonic lashes out on the Scrapniks, he says "I'LL CRUSH YOU!", a line from Dragon Ball Z's Cooler that's memetically associated with Mecha Sonic through its usage in Super Mario Bros. Z, a popular Mario and Sonic fan-created crossover.
