Megan Williams is a 13-year-old girl[2] and the eldest of three children. She became the main human protagonist of the first My Little Pony series, first appearing in the 1984 and 1985 specials Rescue at Midnight Castle and Escape from Catrina, then the 1986 film My Little Pony: The Movie and the cartoon that followed (simply titled My Little Pony, but later retitled My Little Pony 'n Friends).
She and her siblings, Danny and Molly live on a ranch where she keeps a horse named TJ, and a bull named Tauro. Gentle and motherly, but also mature and resourceful in addition to her sweetness and beauty, she acts as the Little Ponies' leader, and in times of crisis the ponies often fly across the rainbow to find her. She keeps the Rainbow of Light, a special locket which contains a powerful rainbow to defeat anything that is evil threatening the ponies.
She was voiced by Tammy Amerson in the first two specials and the movie, and Bettina Bush (who also voices Rainbow Brite) in the cartoon.
Biography
She was first brought to Dream Valley by Firefly to help save her friends from the Master of Midnight Castle, Tirac, and his army of darkness. During her quest, she encounters the Sea Ponies and the Moochick, who gave her a heart-shaped locket which contains the Rainbow of Light. After defeating Tirac, Firefly took her back home, taking the locket with her.
She eventually returned to Ponyland, where the ponies throw her a 'Welcome Back' party. During that time, she helped the ponies free the enslaved Bushwoolies from Catrina and reformed her.
Personality
In comparison to her often bratty or confrontational siblings, Megan is always kind and friendly towards the ponies, rarely losing her temper unless the younger ponies have done something wrong, at which point she acts in a rather motherly fashion, which was her role in many episodes.
Having confronted all kinds of horrors across Dream Valley, Megan might be kind but she is very brave and capable of eliminating the biggest of threats, regardless of how scary they may be. Through the Rainbow of Light, she has killed two of the greatest threats Ponyland has known: Tirac and Lavan.
Megan is also very clever, usually outsmarting opponents too strong to directly face or when the Rainbow of Light is not in her possession.
Powers and Abilities
As a girl who seemingly took care of a farm on her own, Megan is quite strong and athletic for a young teenager, being not only an excellent rider but also a fast runner, able to keep up with the ponies on multiple occasions.
- The Rainbow of Light: The Rainbow of Light is quite possibly the most powerful source of magic in all of Ponyland, with no creature being able to match is power, with the exception of the Smooze which managed to temporarily contain it. Megan wields it in almost all times and is the keeper of the heart locket that contains it. It served as the main inspiration for the Elements of Harmony.
Trivia
- Megan is mentioned a few times across the Equestria Girls series, with her and her siblings' names being seen on a paper in the comics. She finally made an actual, long-awaited comeback in the special Rollercoaster of Friendship.
