Melody is a supporting character in the 2024 supernatural comedy film Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. She is a spirit who aims to help Garraka conquer the world in exchange for passage to the afterlife, only to defect to the Ghostbusters after realizing Garraka was never going to help her.
She was portrayed by Emily Alyn Lind.

Before Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire[]
At 16, Melody died in a tenement fire near Washington Square Park, clutching a matchbook from Melody Diner. She became a ghost, bound to the park, believing the matchbook held her back but eventually made peace with it. Over the years, she haunted the park and became skilled at chess.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire History[]
In 2024, Phoebe Spengler met Melody at the park and didn’t flee, surprising her. They bonded over chess, and Phoebe invited her to the Firehouse. Melody mused about the afterlife, unsure why she hadn’t joined her family. Phoebe identified her matchbook as an "anchor," and Melody revealed the match accidentally started the fire.
Later, Phoebe used the Ionic Separator to briefly enter Melody’s dimension, only to have the spirit Garraka take control, exploiting her ghost state to break free. Melody hoped Garraka could help her reunite with her family, but Phoebe convinced her to let go.
In the final battle, Melody's match, wielded by Razmaadi, helps defeat Garraka. As Melody fades, she thanks Phoebe and leaves her matchbook, ready to move on.
