Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Meredith prior to the events during The Office.
At a young age, Meredith developed a dairy allergy, which prevents her from eating dairy products. This was first mentioned by Pam in The Alliance.
Before the documentary recorded the events of Dunder Mifflin Scranton, Meredith gave birth to two children, Jake and Wendy. Initially, it is learned Meredith got pregnant (with Wendy) for a extra and long “vacation.”
At some point in her life, Meredith developed a drinking problem, which deeply affected her work performance. Sometimes, she even came into work drunk or hungover.
Not long before the events of the show, Meredith had a hysterectomy, which leads to Dwight and Michael mocking her on several occasions. Apparently, it deeply affects her life and what people think of her.
After a breakup with one of her ex’s, he keyed a few of her coworker’s cars, and everyone eventually blamed it on Meredith.
During the events of the show, Meredith got a Ph.D in School Psychology. However, it is unknown when she received it.
Season 1[]
During the episode Health Care, Dwight gathers everyone in the conference room to discuss what medical issues need to be covered to determine what plan to use. During one of the read, Dwight reads aloud “inverted penis”, which Meredith comments on and asks him if he could mean vagina instead, and how she wants it covered. However, Dwight comments and states her vagina was removed during her hysterectomy. Meredith corrects him and says her uterus was removed, and not her vagina as she still has one.
In The Alliance, Michael decides to throw a month early birthday party for Meredith to relieve the stress of possible downsizing. During this event, he asks Dwight the history of Meredith, and states that she has been divorced twice, had a hysterectomy, has two kids, and so on. Later, Michael interrupts the Party Planning Committee and states to get ice cream and cake everybody wants, but Angela and Pam state that it‘s Meredith’s birthday and that she’s allergic to dairy. During the party, Meredith is shocked to find out that the office decided to celebrate her birthday one month in advance. Later, Michael offers her a bite of cake, and Meredith backs off and states that she is really allergic to dairy, and Michael then stated if he was like Meredith (allergic to dairy) he would kill himself. Moments after, she reads her birthday card aloud, and was shocked to see Michael’s comment about her being downsized.

Because of this, Meredith is discriminated against her own coworkers, particularly Angela, and doesn’t seem to notice it. However, Andy decides to help her out and give a lecture in the conference room and talk sex ed, by bribing everyone with pizza. Initially, Andy shows everyone the difference between normal and diseased genitals. With everyone weirded out, Andy states that he was doing the segment for Meredith, and then blows up after nobody is appreciating what he is doing.
Season 8[]
In The List, Robert California had wrote a list, sorting everyone in an imaginary group of winners and losers. Initially, Meredith is on the losers side and is stuck at the office while the winners go out for lunch with Robert. Upon their return, Andy decides to confront Robert and state why some people on the losers column should be on the winners side. He goes on and makes Meredith look good, by stating she is a hardworking mother who works in supplier relations. Near the end of the episode, Meredith thumbs up Andy on her way out of the office, suggesting what he did was nice and a good move.
Season 9[]
During the episode Lice, Pam comes to work, unknowingly spreading lice to her coworkers, and one of them being Meredith. Because of this, the whole office believes Meredith is the one who brought in lice because of her past history, but Pam tries to defend Meredith, by stating that nobody knows it is really her fault. Later, Pam decides to apologize to Meredith and own up for her actions, but backs out after finding Meredith just starting to shave her head to keep the lice out. Because of this Pam freaks and decides not to tell her, and, during her trip to the store for mayonnaise, gets Meredith some of the items she asked for. However, Meredith later find out Pam was the one who spread the lice after Helene, Pam’s mother, called to let her know that CeCe still had lice. Initially, Meredith was upset and wanted Pam’s head shaved, but later forgave her and decided to go to the bar with her, where they sung and danced on a stage. Before then, they talked, and Pam complimented Meredith for being a working mother and all the things she had to put up with over the years.
In Finale, Meredith and the others are asked a question regarding events that were not recorded during the documentary, and Meredith explains that they did not capture her going to school and getting her degree in School Psychology, officially making her Meredith Palmer, Ph.D.
In her final moments on the show, Meredith explained to the camera crew that she was thankful enough to share her crummy story with everyone out there, and states she would like to hang out with fans that share similar stories with her.
