Mia Fey (Japanese: Chihiro Ayasato) is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Godot) in the Ace Attorney franchise.

She was Phoenix Wright's boss and mentor and Maya's older sister. As a rookie defense attorney she defended death row inmate Terry Fawles with the help of Diego Armando, though Fawles ended up committing suicide in front of the court before he could be acquitted. A year later she defends Phoenix Wright where they become friends. She helps him succeed in his first case, where he manages to acquit Larry Butz. In Turnabout Sisters she is murdered by Redd White, however, she continued to help Phoenix by channelling her spirit through Pearl Fey or Maya Fey.

Biography[]

Mia was born as the heiress to a once-powerful family of spirit mediums and supposedly inherited top-notch spiritual powers, the Fey clan. However, after the DL-6 case, her mother, Misty Fay, mysteriously disappears after failing to solve the case. This leads to Mia leaving the village behind to become a lawyer and find out the truth about her mother's disappearance.

After completing her training, Mia worked at the Grossberg & Co. Law Firms alongside Diego Armando and presumably Robert Hammond. Her first case was defending escaped convict Terry Fawles in the murder of police sergeant Valerie Hawthorne, covered in Turnabout Beginnings. However, the trial ended with Terry committing suicide after being manipulated by the real murderer, Dahlia Hawthorne. In addition to this, her partner and friend Diego Armando was poisoned, leaving him in a comatose state. The events of the trial left Mia traumatised and it wasn't until a year later that she took on another case.

What caught her attention in the case was one of the witnesses, Dahlia Hawthorne, whom she had believed was the murderer in Valerie Hawthorne's case the previous year, and the prime suspect in Diego's poisoning. The defendant in this trial was Phoenix Wright, marking the first time she met him. The trial went well, Mia was successfully able to prove Phoenix's innocence and Dahlia was finally charged for her crimes.

Sometime after defending Phoenix, she left Grossberg's firm to create her own, Fey & Co. Law Offices. She took Phoenix under her wing and helped him in his first trial. Soon after the first trial, she was murdered by Redd White, due to her having information about his many actions. During the case, Mia is channelled by her sister, Maya, showing that despite her death, she can still help Phoenix. After solving the case, Phoenix took over the offices as the Wright & Co. Law offices and Mia continued to help Wright in his cases by having her spirit channelled in times of crisis.
