Biography[]

Michael Carr is currently living with his wife, Karen Carr in Los Angeles. One night, an intruder invades their home and the intruder takes briefly Karen hostage and dumps her in the swimming pool and then escapes. The Carrs call the police and meet a cop named Pete Davis who takes interest in their case and installs a security system in their house.

When Michael obsesses with revenge on the intruder, Pete invites him on a ride-along with his partner Roy Cole. After dropping Cole off, Pete takes Michael to the intruder to arrest him and offers him a chance to beat him with his nightstick, but Michael declines, so Pete beats him himself, savagely, which makes Michael suspicious of his behavior and tells him to get help and stay away from him and Karen.

Later, Pete becomes obsessive with Karen and starts to stalk the couple, such as walking in their house and in their bedroom when they were having sex, canceling Michael's credit cards, putting a boot on his car, and changing the records to show he has $600 of unpaid car tickets. Michael later tries to seek help from the Police Department about Pete, but they don't believe his story. Later, he tries to bribe Pete $500 to leave them alone, but fails after Pete punches Michael in the gut and threatens to kill him.

Michael later seeks help from Roy Cole who threatens to report him for his behavior, but Pete kills him in retaliation. Pete them frames Michael on drug charges by planting cocaine in his house to get closer to Karen and Michael gets arrested. While in jail, Pete taunts him and Michael warns Pete not to go near Karen, but he soon gets bailed out by his best friend Roger by giving the bail bondsman $25,000. Michael arrives home and saves Karen and he and Pete engage in a fight, and it ends with Karen knocking out Pete with a jewel and Michael knocks him out unconscious. Pete later wakes up and taunts Michael if he's going to make a citizen's arrest, and Michael instead kills Pete by shooting him repeatedly. He and Karen later wait for the police as the film ends.
