~ Michiko to Hana. |
Michiko Malandro is one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Hatchin) in the 2008 anime series Michiko to Hatchin.
She is an orphan turned criminal and the former lover of Hiroshi Morenos. She escapes prison and rescues Hiroshi's daughter, Hana, from an abusive household in order for them to find Hiroshi.
She is voiced by Yoko Maki in Japanese and Monica Rial in English.
Appearance[]
Michiko is a young, beautiful, tall woman of Afro-Brazilian descent, with deeply tanned skin, long dark brown hair and gray eyes, usually hidden behind various types of sunglasses. One of her most distinctive features is a black tattoo on her stomach depicting two feathers on the sides and the inscription L.B.D.D.
Michiko's clothes change very often throughout the series, but in most cases they are very bold, skimpy clothes that expose primarily her legs, cleavage and belly.
Personality[]
Despite her adult age, Michiko has been shown to be somewhat immature and childish on numerous occasions, often getting angry when someone upset her or when something didn't go her way, not being afraid to look someone straight in the eye and scold them. In addition, she often displays jealousy towards others and a competitive spirit.
However, despite her often rough and mean nature, Michiko proves to have a deep hidden heart of gold, especially when it comes to Hatchin, whom she was willing to protect with her life, and Hiroshi, whom she loved very much in the old days.
Trivia[]
- The name Michiko means "beautiful" (美) (mi), "wisdom, intellect" (智) (chi) and "child" (子) (ko). However, the "(美) (mi)" is replaced with (道) (mi), which means "road, path". This may refer to the fact that Michiko's character revolves around her journey and constant travel.
- Michiko's design is based off of the African-American R&B singer Aaliyah.
