Michinaga Azuma is a participant in the Desire Grand Prix who transforms into Kamen Rider Buffa and a major character in Kamen Rider Geats.
After surviving an elimination in the final round of the Desire Grand Prix and finding himself in the Jyamar Garden, Michinaga was recruited into the Jyamato and began helping them in their plans to bring down the Desire Grand Prix.
He is portrayed by Kazuto Mokudai.
Biography[]
Michinaga was a construction worker before he was scouted to join the Desire Grand Prix. After getting caught in a Jyamar Area and witnessing his friend Toru Imai, who was a DGP Rider, die at the hand of other Kamen Riders in the game, Michinaga came to view Riders with distaste. When he was approached with an offer to join the Desire Grand Prix, Michinaga joined in the hopes of using his desire card to eliminate all Kamen Riders.
As Kamen Rider Buffa, Michinaga rose to be second to Ace Ukiyo in the Desire Grand Prix season he participated in. Although Ace won by bringing down the Slug Fortress Jyamato, Michinaga survived and was thus allowed to participate in the next season of the DGP. Michinaga again survived to the final round, along with Geats, Tycoon and Na-Go, which saw them having to fight the Saboten Knight Jyamato. During the round however, Buffa began attacking Geats, even though it violated the rules of the DGP, as he simply sought to see Geats lose. Despite this, Geats was again able to clench victory and defeat the final boss Jyamato.
Having survived, Michinaga rejoined the Desire Grand Prix for the next season and was again able to survive until the final round. As Ace had been eliminated thanks to Girori's intervention, Michinaga seemingly had a shot at victory, only for him to perish in battle against the final boss of the season, the Rafflesia Fortress Jyamato.
Having been eliminated, Michinaga found himself in the Jyamar Garden, where he was to be fed to the growing Jyamato saplings by Archimedel. However, Michinaga somehow survived his elimination and was able to escape the Jyamar Garden, only to be caught by Niram and Samas. Believing Michinaga's survival disrupted the "reality" of the DGP, Niram had Samas bring him back to the Jyamar Garden so he could be disposed of there.
However, Archimedel chose not to feed Michinaga to his Jyamato. Instead, Michinaga was approached by Beroba, the Jyamato's sponsor, who offered him a place in the Jyamato and had him receive a Jyamato buckle to allow him to become a Rider once more. With the Jyamato buckle, Michinaga became Buffa once again, only as a Jyamato Rider, and began intruding in the DGP. Michinaga soon discovered that another eliminated DGP participant had also joined the ranks of the Jyamato, that being Daichi Isuzu, who had sided with them in order to fulfill his desire of obtaining more knowledge.
In response to Michinaga's interference in the "fruit delivery" round of the DGP, Niram took to the game himself and became Kamen Rider Gazer to fight him. Although Niram swiftly defeated Buffa, he chose to spare Michinaga after he survived again, believing that the fact that he was able to stay alive proved his surviving an elimination was no fluke and instead part of the "reality" of the game.
As Archimedel came close to finishing building a massive Jyamato army, Michinaga went with Daichi and Beroba to complete their side of the plan, that being to steal the game master's Vision Driver. After Chirami decided to stage a "hide and seek" round of the game using himself as Kamen Rider Glare, the three Jyamato aligned individuals confronted him to steal his Driver. Michinaga and Daichi were able to easily overpower Chirami and force him out of his transformation, enabling Beroba to seize his Driver. However, their interference prompted the DGP sponsor Ziin to intervene and assume his Kamen Rider form in order to stop them.
After Beroba used the Vision Driver to seize control of the Desire Grand Prix and turned it into the Jyamato Grand Prix, Michinaga was allowed to participate due to being a Jyamato hybrid. He made it past the preliminary round to become one of the players in the game, alongside a Knight Jyamato, a Rook Jyamato, a Bishop Jyamato and two Jyamato Riders. He also discovered that the Knight Jyamato had inherited the memories of his friend Toru Imai and agreed to partner with him. In the first round of the game, Michinaga and the other Jyamato players caused lots of havoc and destruction in their first attack, but were forced to pull back after the time limit for the first half of the round ran out. In between that and the second half, Michinaga approached Beroba and requested she begin helping him more, to which Beroba offered to set up a "secret mission" for him to fulfill. The "secret mission" ending up being just to attack an enemy at very close range, which Michinaga easily achieved during his fight with Geats thanks to his preference for close combat. Michinaga was rewarded with the Jet Command Set Buckle, which he using to continue beating down Geats while Toru fought Ziin.
Michinaga would later participate in the Sengoku round of the JGP and fight Geats again. After Beroba was defeated by Geats with his Mach Boost form, Michinaga used the opportunity to take the Vision Driver from and gain control of the JGP.
Michinaga decided to have the next round of the Jyamato Grand Prix be a "Bull Fight" round where the DGP Riders would be lured into one-on-one fights with each of the JGP players. However, Beroba decided to include a trap for the Riders by having Archimedel awaken the Dunkleosteus Jyamato and use it to ambush them when they stepped into the ring. The first Rider they lured into the game was Keiwa, who was easily defeated by the Rook and Dunkleosteus Jyamato and promptly thrown in a cell. The JGP Staff then tried to lure Neon into the game, but Ace went ahead instead of her and took her place in the second round, fighting the Bishop and Dunkleosteus.
After the Riders prevailed in the Bull Fight round, Beroba set up the final round of the JGP, a "Heaven or Hell" round where humans would be sacrificed to power up the Jyamato's "Evil Goddess". During the round, Michinaga stepped in to fight the Riders and eliminated Tycoon by tossing him into one of the pits set up to sacrifice people. He would later be directed by Beroba to go after Ace, only to lose the Vision Driver to him. However, this was really part of Beroba's plan, as it led to Ace fighting Niram once he discovered how his mother had been imprisoned and used by the DGP as their "Goddess of Creation". The fight between the two of them eventually led both of them into one of the pits, where Buffa was able to use his finisher to drag both of them into it, eliminating them both and allowing Michinaga and Beroba to claim both Vision Drivers. With both Vision Drivers, Michinaga was able to compel the Goddess of Creation to grant him the power to destroy all DGP Kamen Riders.
Michinaga then began hunting down all the Kamen Riders recruited by the DGP to eliminate them with his new Jyamashin powers. Chirami responded by recruiting various past participants in the DGP to fight him, but all of them were eliminated. Michinaga eventually confronted Chirami himself and fought both him and Ziin. After tossing Ziin aside, Buffa cornered Chirami, only for Ace to suddenly return and intervene.
However, Ace then unexpectedly turned on Chirami and assisted Buffa in eliminating him, having resolved to bring down the DGP now that he had uncovered the truth about his mother. It was at that moment that Ace and Michinaga were summoned before Suel, who introduced himself as the overseer of the "Desire Royale" and offered to grant the desire of whoever won it. In addition to Ace and Michinaga, Suel also allowed Neon, Daichi Isuzu and Keiwa's sister Sara to participate in it, with Keiwa joining as well after he was revived and manipulated into becoming a Rider again by Kekera.
Eventually, Michinaga was able to eliminate every Rider in the Desire Royale except for Ace and Keiwa. However, the Desire Royale turned out to just be a way for Suel to keep the Riders distracted while he and Niramu made preparations for the Grand End. Once the Grand End began, Michinaga's Jyamashin powers were erased along with his memories of the Desire Grand Prix.
However, Michinaga regained his memories when Ace halted the Grand End with his new Geats IX form. Michinaga and Keiwa were then both approached by Ace, who asked them to join the new "Desire Grand Prix" he was starting up to eliminate the remaining Jyamato. Both agreed and, after being given their Rider powers again, went out to hunt the new "Parasite Jyamato" that had mysteriously begun attacking.

Notes[]
- Though he's officially labeled as a rival/supporting Rider, at least some fans (notably in Japan and some international parts) believed that he was more suited to be a Secondary Rider compared to Keiwa Sakurai, likely owning to his actions of teaming up with Ace alone in a few occasions.
