Nemuri Kayama (香山 睡, Kayama Nemuri), also known as the R-Rated Hero: Midnight (18禁ヒーロー ミッドナイト Jū-hachi-kin Hīrō Middonaito), is a supporting character in the anime/manga series My Hero Academia and it's anime/manga spinoff prequel, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. She is a Pro Hero as well as a teacher at U.A. High School who teaches Modern Hero Art History.
She is voiced by Akeno Watanabe in the Japanese version of the anime and by Elizabeth Maxwell in the English dub, who also voiced Ymir in Attack on Titan.
Appearance[]
Midnight is an attractive, curvaceous and tall woman with spiky dark-purple hair that reaches below her waist, sky blue eyes, a small beauty mark underneath her left eye and she has red painted nails.
Her hero costume resembles a dominatrix outfit, composed of a skin-tight white bodysuit (which is flesh colored in the manga). Her black leather, breast-less leotard connects to a wide, bedazzled thread that reaches and forms the collar of her costume. Midnight also has a red domino mask, a red and yellow belt, jeweled, black high heels, and handcuffs on each wrist. Her costume was made easy to tear so that she could use her quirk more effectively.

Personality[]
Midnight is a confident and flirty woman with a playful sense of humor, but she also comes with a very sharp tongue and temper. She is noted for her love of vibrant youth and thrills, often adoring her students from said standpoint. She is always excited to see their chivalry and determination.
Although her R-rated behavior borders on the questionable side, she does show to be supportive of her pupils and encourages them to become great heroes. At one point, she was impressed by Minoru Mineta's ingenuity and him being able to outsmart her during the Final Exams.
Midnight is sensitive when talking about her age (probably due to her fondness of youth and of being young). With her coquettish attitude aside, Midnight is a very intelligent and perceptive hero.

Quirk[]
Somnambulist: Midnight's Quirk allows her to release a pink-colored aroma from her body which can put others to sleep almost instantly. According to Present Mic, this Quirk apparently works better on men than women.
Etymology[]
- The name Nemuri means "sleep" (睡).
- Nemuri's surname Kayama means "fragrance, fragrant" (香) (ka) and "mountain, hill" (山) (yama).

- Midnight was originally going to be the homeroom teacher for Class 1-A, but was changed with Eraser Head in favor of someone who could get sharp-tonged with the kids.
- While Midnight's previous costumes were designed to be revealing, but they eventually lead to government regulations being put on costume skin exposure.
- Midnight's quirk Somnambulist comes from the medical term somnambulism, meaning "sleepwalking".
- Akeno Watanabe (Nemuri's Japanese voice actress) also voices Izuku Midoriya as a child.
