Miguel Oduol is a supporting character in the manga and anime series Jujutsu Kaisen and a major antagonist in the 2021 movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0. He was originally a follower of Suguru Geto and assisted him during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, where Miguel primarily faced Satoru Gojo as ordered by Geto. Following the incident and Geto's defeat against Yuta Okkotsu, Miguel agreed to join Gojo's side and returned to his homeland in Kenya alongside Yuta to train him.
He is voiced by Koichi Yamadera in Japanese and by Bill Butts in English.
Appearance[]
Miguel is a towering African man of muscular build. His eyes are most often concealed by his round sunglasses he wears. His typical attire is a white, form-fitting short-sleeve shirt with purple lining along the seams, accentuating his broad shoulders. His outfit includes slim-fit black pants and a pair of red shoes. Over his head, Miguel sports a white beret. His ears also has small gold earrings.
History[]
Cursed Child Arc[]
Miguel along with the other commanders were summoned to a meeting with Suguru Geto in his religious group's temple to discuss creating a paradise for sorcerers. After the meeting, Geto brought Mimiko Hasaba, Nanako Hasaba and Larue to Tokyo Jujutsu High so he could meet with Yuta while Miguel and the others stayed behind.
On December 24, 2017, Miguel was in Shinjuku along with Manami Suda, Mimiko, and Nanako. Manami reminded him that they were only there as distractions for Geto's true objective. He and Satoru Gojo noticed each other, the latter remarking his opponent as troublesome. When Satoru teleported two of his students back to Jujutsu High, it surprised Miguel and Manami, with Manami wondering whether they noticed Geto being in Jujutsu High, with Miguel replying that they should have prepared a double to stand-in for Geto. The curse users immediately started the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.
When the Night Parade started, Miguel confronted Satoru alone. As they fought, Miguel was put on the defensive as his Black Rope got shorter due to being used to disrupt Satoru's Limitless technique. Miguel then asked Satoru how many decades he thought it took for his country's sorcerers to make the cursed tool, who brushed off the question. When a giant cursed spirit appeared and attacked Satoru, Miguel saw Satoru use his Cursed Technique Reversal: Red to easily exorcise the spirit. Miguel thought about what Satoru's technique was capable of and how he had to last just ten more minutes before meeting his quota. Miguel then cursed Geto for taking too long.
Some time later, Miguel retreated along with the other commanders after the attack. He was eventually recruited by Gojo, leaving Geto's group and allying himself with Japan's jujutsu society.
While overseas in Miguel's homeland in Africa, Yuta Okkotsu was trained by Miguel along with his community. In addition to his training, Yuta also searched for any remaining Black Rope with Miguel's help, to no avail. At some point in time, while Miguel was treating Yuta to beef stew, Gojo met with the two. During this meeting, Gojo had a conversation about Miguel's cursed technique and capabilities as a sorcerer. Around September, Gojo visited Miguel's homeland again to talk with Yuta, entrusting him with the task of protecting his classmates and juniors if anything were to happen to him. Miguel purposefully avoided meeting Gojo again.
Personality[]
Miguel protrays himself as a collected man with not clear much views over other sorcerers, unlike most of the rest of Geto's group. However, he and his comrades all bear loyalty to Geto's desires, as displayed by how bold and confident he was to face the Gojo, strongest sorcerer before joining his side. Despite being nervous and fighting such a powerful opponent, Miguel maintained a confident front during the fight, earning Satoru's respect as a formidable opponent. He also has a light-hearted side, as noted that he seemed to be holding back and joke around during the battle. His carefree demeanor led Satoru to compare him to the MMA comedian Bobby Ologun.
Abilities[]
Overall Skill: Miguel is a highly skilled jujutsu sorcerer, worthy of praise from even Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer, with Gojo deeming Miguel a particularly troublesome foe.
Miguel comes from a family of sorcerers in Kenya. They are responsible for weaving the Black Rope, a cursed tool comparable in strength to special grade ones like the Inverted Spear of Heaven. In a fight, Miguel was capable of using Black Rope to disturb the Infinity and hit Satoru, something most of his opponents never accomplish. He also survived the encounter and escaped from the Six Eyes user successfully. Thanks to info from Suguru, Miguel has knowledge of the Six Eyes and the Limitless.
For his performance on December 24, 2017, Miguel was recognized as the "MVP" of the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons. Satoru decided Miguel was good enough to recruit and was used to train his prized pupil in order to hone Yuta's boundless potential. Following his return from Kenya, Yuta was immensely more powerful than before he left. It is very likely Miguel's training had a lot to do with Yuta learning to better control his vast cursed energy.
High Endurance: One notable trait Miguel displayed in his battle with Satoru was undoubtedly toughness. He was able to take hits from the strongest sorcerer, recover, and counterattack moments later. Miguel did so after Satoru hurled him into a building, and even his opponent admitted he could take a hit very well.
