Biography[]
Background[]
At some point, following the supposed death of Sofía's father, Quintanilla started dating her mother Nora. He also has a good frienship with Susana, a married teacher and one of his co-workers.
Season One[]
Quintanilla first appears when he summons Sofía to his office, urging her to adapt to the school's environment in order to get past her father's death, something that she has been coping with for years, although Sofía states she doesn't want to talk about it. Later on, during a presentation hosted by Quintanilla himself to teach the students how to properly use their cellphones, however, instead of the topic itself, a compromising video is shown revealing that one of the popular students, Isabela de la Fuente, is a trans woman, hurriedly telling Bruno, the head of the I.T. department to stop it, to no avail. Isabela runs out of the auditorium in tears while the rest of the students leave as well. Quintanilla later shows up at Sofía's place to have dinner with both her and Nora, the latter insisting that he wants to socialize more with her; Sofía greets him and invites him in.
The next day, after the hacker had leaked the secrets of Raúl León, Gerry Granda, Natalia Alexander (the trio having parttook in revealing Isabela's secret) and Pablo García, who betrayed her by pretending not to know her secret, at Isabela's request to get back at them, a fight escalates between all of them during a class, amongst them Javier Williams, the new kid who enrolled mid-year, but particularly Gerry who won't stop mocking Isabela, resulting in the five of them being sent to Quintanilla's office to sort out their issues. Sofía also sends herself there intentionally by falsely criticizing how poorly the situation was handled to investigate more.
Pablo is the first to meet with Quintanilla, knowing why Pablo did what he did but that Pablo must understand that violence is not tolerated at the school, yet Pablo informs him that he and Isabela broke up and Quintanilla says that's exactly why he's sorry, then telling him that everyone is making comments about his dick, also bringing up the fact that his secretary Lulú won't keep her eyes off of him. Next is Isabela, with Quintanilla explaining to her that he and the school are all supportive in regard of the LGBT community, also wanting her to know that he knows how she feels. Apalled by this response, Isabela angrily tells Quintanilla that he doesn't know how she feels, ranting about how she lost everything she's ever achieved after getting a fresh start. He can give Isabela a speech if he wants, but that he shouldn't say he understands Isabela because he doesn't before storming out of his office, criticizing how staggering his stupidity is as she leaves. Quintanilla questions Natalia about the money she stole because most of her committee peers are outraged by her controversial actions, with Natalia insisting that she had moved the money to another account for better interests and provide more for the mazahuas, promising to return it as soon as possible but that the bank may take longer than expected. Nevertheless, Quintanilla removes Natalia as president of NONA to replace her with Rosita, while demanding she give the money back immediately so that he won't have to take any further drastic measures. Frustrated, Natalia cites how "unfair" is this and that even Quintanilla doesn't trust her anymore before walking out of the office. Being Gerry's turn, Quintanilla asks him whether he is gay or not, which Gerry repeatedly denies in a rude manner, with Quintanilla saying that only because he watches porn, doesn't mean he becomes gay. Then, he calls Javier, wanting to know why he turned down the gym teacher's offer for him to play for the school football team, with Javier insisting that he had played football before but is no longer interested, while also letting him know that he is getting along with Sofía well. With Raúl and Sofía being the only ones left, he calls Raúl out for not taking the situation seriously (after his father was exposed as a corrupt politician), to which Raúl insists that he is, but it's his problem, also hinting that Quintanilla might not be able to help him and bringing up the fact of his father being a former governor. Quintanilla lets Raúl that the school supports him in everything before he leaves. Last but not least, it is Sofía's turn, wanting to parttake in finding out the identity of the hacker, only for Quintanilla to tell her to stay out of it because she is a student. Looking around the office, she finds out that he intends to propose to her mother and storms off.
As he leaves the school premises, Quintanilla is cornered by Martha, Luis's mother, who complains about the unfair mistreatment her lonely son has been receiving, with Luis trying to stop her, to no avail. Suddenly, Luis interjects and announces to the shocked student body that he is the hacker. However, it turned out to be a red herring so that Luis could free himself from the abuse of his bullies Gerry, Darío and Ernesto. As a result, Luis is expelled. Gerry, believing this to be true, wants to beat him up as revenge. After the hacker arranges a fight between them, Quintanilla finds out about this and locks Gerry up in a room until everyone goes home. Quintanilla tries to make the students leave, but neither refuses to before Luis shows up, provoking the entire students and those with their secrets already revealed; everything he says is sent by the real hacker to his cellphone. Gerry also shows up, having been inexplicably released by Alex, a lesbian student. The fight escalates while Quintanilla is beaten up by some of the students, leaving him injured while Susana tends to him. As Luis runs for his life, Gerry catches up to and hits Luis hard, causing him to fall over and hit the pavement, leaving the students horrified and Luis hospitalized. Luis's mother is understandably upset about this and blames Quintanilla, although she does not press any charges on Gerry. Quintanilla later has Gerry expelled for almost murdering his tormented classmate, also given his tainted student record, despite his abusive father's protests when he argues otherwise that it was Luis who started the fight, refusing to acknowledge the fact that an innocent student could've died.
During nightfall, he goes on a date with Nora, taking this opportunity to propose to her while Sofía goes with Javier to Raúl's party. There, the date seems to be more about Nora worrying about Sofía's wellbeing rather than a casual conversation as partners, which visibly annoys Quintanilla. Nevertheless, Quintanilla finally proposes, but Nora turns him down for Sofía's own sake, knowing that she would not take the news well. Because of this, Quintanilla starts avoiding her and accuses Sofía of interfering with her mother's happiness. In addition, he has been stressing because of the situation with the hacker that remains unresolved as his efforts prove to be futile, with the school council considering his removal as principal. Susana reassures him and they start making out, before they are caught by Raúl who quickly leaves after noticing them. His shady attitude makes him ban phones, cancelling the NONA party and launching a full investigation to get to the hacker. News of the no-NONA causes quite a stir among the students.
After Sofía and Raúl uncover a key fact about Javier's past, they suspect him to be the hacker, so they report him to Quintanilla by showing him a video in which Javier pushed off a balcony one of his former teammates to his death during a rite of passage. Javier is expelled from the school as the whole students look on in shock and disbelief. However, Quintanilla enters his office to find Raúl there, revealing that he had blackmailed Quintanilla into framing Javier as the hacker so that his affair with Susana wouldn't come out before demanding that he leave. Because of this, the NONA party is back on track, to the delight of the students. Quintanilla later arrives to look for Nora and they embrace, suggesting they got back together. Sofía would later expose Raúl as the hacker during the NONA party, resulting in most of the students turning on him but then figthing each other after he leaks all of their secrets and, during a confrontation with Gerry over his actions, Javier getting accidentally shot by Gerry trying to intervene in the situation.
Season Two[]
After Luis's death, Quintanilla and the other students attend his funeral, with Martha giving him a distrustful look. He fires Gabriela from National School after her relationship with Alex is exposed and is engaged to Nora, with their wedding due for a few days. Two months later, the school has seeemingly gone back to normal as Quintanilla arranges a ceremony to honor Luis, while being informed by Susana that Martha will not be attending as she doesn't want to watch him washing away his sins. However, the ceremony is suddenly interrupted by a new hacker, only known as "The Avenger", who demands justice for Luis and scares the students into handing Gerry over to them. Later on, while Nora confronts Sofía for hiding the fact that her father is still alive, refusing her apologies and not believing her claims that she doesn't where he is, Quintanilla arrives on short notice to comfort her and Sofía wanders off to clear her mind. Due to their home being repossessed, Sofía and Nora temporarily move in with Quintanilla.
The next day, Quintanilla finds out about the incidents regarding Darío and Ernesto, and Alex, who were all targeted by the Avenger, but chooses to handle the situation himself, not wanting the school board to find out. Raúl returns to the school, much to the fury of the students, including Pablo, who violently beats him up until the fight is broken up by the gym teacher. Quintanilla then summons Raúl but is unable to expel him as he still threatens to make public his affair with Susana, but still states that he will no longer protect him. As he leaves the premises, Raúl is cornered outside and assaulted by some of the students, including Pablo who again does the same, and Sofía tries to interfere but to no avail. To get Quintanilla's attention, Sofía deliberately makes some of the cars's alarms go off, forcing Darío and Ernesto to hold Pablo back and the other scared students to retreat to their homes as to not face punishment. Angry, Sofía asks Raúl why did he come back, but only replies that it was for her. Quintanilla again reminds Raúl of what he told him before. Sofía confronts Quintanilla about Raúl, but he refuses to answer stating that it doesn't concern her. Noticing a trash bag, Sofía finds a picture of herself with her parents inside of it and immediately leaves. When Quintanilla asks what's wrong, she takes back his statement, saying that he isn't her father.
Quintanilla arrives at the school to find his office being reorganized and Susana there, much to his surprise. As it is later revealed to the students, Susana has now become the principal of National School by decision of the board, given how poorly Quintanilla has been handling the Avenger situation and Susana tells the students that if they have any updates on Gerry's whereabouts, to report back to her. Susana then summons Raúl to her office, showing her the video he recorded of her and Quintanilla. Susana tries to, but is unable to expel Raúl either, using again his blackmailing techniques so he can remain at the school. The staff and students later throw a farewell party for Quintanilla, which is short-lived when the Avenger locks him up in the men's restroom, leaving him there to be stung by bees from a nest; he is released by Sofía and Raúl. Sofía and Raúl then argue with Darío, who suspects them of having buried him and Ernesto alive and locking up Quintanilla because of the fact of having been the first ones to arrive at the scenes. Just a Quintanilla shows up, Darío jokingly remarks how "good" his going to the restroom was. Fed up and having had enough, Quintanilla stands up for himself by calling out the students over their egotistical attitudes, arguing that he made a lot of sacrifices to keep the school afloat, even locking Gerry up to keep him from harming Luis, and how all of them are refusing to acknowledge this, concluding that he thinks they deserve what's been happening lately. Susana tries to talk some sense into him, but Quintanilla refuses to hear about it and resigns, saying that he's nothing before being walked off by Nora.
The morning after, Quintanilla arrives at Raúl's place to pick Sofía up as her mother is worried sick about her. Raúl is the one who greets him at his doorstep and initially feigns ignorance about Sofía being at his house, but Quintanilla tells him Javier was the one who let him know that Sofía has been staying there, to which Raúl scoffs that if he told him that then he would check by himself. Quintanilla sarcastically remarks how "funny" Raúl is and that he is fed up with his attitude, with Raúl defending himself by reminding him that Sofía wouldn't like to see Quintanilla threatening him. Seeing the irony of his words, Quintanilla is surprised that now Raúl doesn't like someone talking back to him, but Raúl insists he doesn't know what is he talking about and Quintanilla reminds him of the porn video he recorded of him and Susana making out, back when Raúl, using that information, blackmailed Quintanilla into letting him off the hook and framing Javier in his place as the hacker, but Raúl can only respond with silence before Quintanilla tells him to bring Sofía to him. Having eavesdropped on their conversation, Sofía is upset that Raúl had broken his promise of not lying to her anymore and cuts ties with him. Quintanilla is confronted by Sofía about Susana, although he does not share the whole details. He even questions why is she with Raúl, asking her if she had forgotten about his actions against the school, but Sofía only changes the subject and gives him an ultimatum: tell Nora or she will. Back at his house, Quintanilla seems on the verge of telling Nora until they are interrupted by a knock on his door. It turns out to be the gym teacher, who is Susana's husband and already found out about the affair, greeting the former principal with a punch on his face and threatening to kill him should he ever screw Susana again. Quintanilla apologizes to Nora, who leaves angrily after hearing this shocking piece of information. Later, Susana contacts Quintanilla to check on him, revealing that she herself told her husband about the affair as she couldn't keep letting Raúl blackmail her. Nevertheless, Quintanilla is understandably upset that she had ruined his engagement to Nora and tells Susana that she disgusts him before hanging up on her.
