Michael 'Mike' Roark (played by Tommy Lee Jones, who also plays Agent K in the Men in Black films and Two-Face in Batman Forever) is the main protagonist of Volcano (1997). He is a divorced single father of Kelly Roark and the chief of the Los Angeles Office of Emergency Management (OEM). While he is on vacation, but his vacation was cut to the Earthquake that is wreaking havoc and plus the La Brea Tar Pits formed a small volcano and spews red-hot boiling lava on Wilshire Boulevard and is burning the Museum Row.
Volcano[]
When a massive earthquake rocks the city of Los Angeles, Emergency Management department head Mike Roark returns from his vacation to help with the city's response. After geologist Dr. Amy Barnes warns that a volcano may be forming in sewer tunnels, another severe earthquake unleashes the lava flowing underfoot, threatening to destroy the whole city. As the fiery molten rock runs through the streets, Roark and Barnes must figure out how to divert it.
Roark rescues the injured firefighters out of the area. Moments later, a newly-formed underground volcano erupts from the tar pits and lava begins to flow down Wilshire Boulevard. The lava incinerates everything in its path and kills two firefighters. Roark and Kelly become separated, and Kelly is injured when a lava bomb badly burns her leg.
