Miles "Spider" Socorro is a major protagonist in the 2022 film Avatar: The Way of Water. The biological son of Miles Quaritch and Paz Socorro, he has a special connection to the Sully children, especially Kiri.
He is portrayed by Jack Champion.

Background[]
Miles Socorro was born during the Pandora War in 2154 to Miles Quaritch and his scorpion pilot Paz Socorro and was one of the first humans born on Pandora. After his parents' deaths, Miles was left an orphan. Because he was an infant at the time of the RDA's defeat, Spider could not be placed in cyrogenesis. Instead, he was adopted by a scientist couple Nash McCosker and his wife Mary and resided on Hell's Gate with the other RDA defectors and Na'vi sympathizers. However, Spider mostly grew up around the Na'vi, especially the Sully family. He became close to Kiri, Tuktirey, and Lo'ak. He often used blue paint to give him markings similar to the Na'vi. However, Spider has a mutual dislike for Neytiri, who was quite judgemental towards him for being human.

- Hand-to-hand Combat/Unnamed Combat: Spider mention he can still kick Lo'ak's butt, lucky he manages knock out one of RDA's guard and one of pilots with fire extinguisher also destroy control switch systems of Giant ship
- Superhuman strength: In the Avatar: The High Ground comic, Spider could be seen lifting a stone that was larger than him, which could mean that Spider could have supernatural strength when he protected Kiri from the RDA.

Paz Socorro[]
Paz was Miles' biological mother who was killed during the Battle of the Home tree. Despite never meeting his mother, Spider loves his mom and keeps the picture her with him at all times.
Due to his strained relationship with his adoptive mother, Spider wishes his mother was still alive today.
Kiri[]
Spider and Kiri have been best friends since they were children. Due to playing together and feeling like orphans, Kiri considered Spider as if he were her own brother despite growing up with two brothers. Kiri nicknamed him "Monkey Boy" as a term of endearment.
Jake Sully[]
Unlike his wife, Jake was more accepting onwards Spider, considering he was his children's closest friend, and understood what it was like to be human, final battle lucky Jake defending Spider from Neytiri's rage, At the end of the second film, Jake embraced Spider as a "son for a son.", showing he was willing to accept the teenager as a son.
Neytiri[]
Neytiri is Spider's adoptive mother; however, they rarely get along. She believed that he should be with his own kind and hated him for being the son of her most hated enemy. During the confrontation with Quaritch, Neytiri threatened to kill him if Quaritch didn't release Kiri. To make her point, Neytiri slit Spider across his chest with her dagger. While her anger is justified after losing her firstborn, Neytiri shouldn't have treated Spider like this because he himself did nothing wrong.

- Spider has split controversy among the Avatar fandom. A critic of the movie said that Spider's rescue of Quaritch was rather questionable due to the man's past actions against him and the Sully family. It was this particular reason why other viewers disliked him. However, others have praised the character for being the perfect embodiment of someone who feels out of place in this world.
- In a way, Spider is similar to the character, Tarzan: a human with long hair who was raised among another race.
- They both became orphans after their parents were killed. (Tarzan's parents were killed by Sabor, and Miles' father was killed by Neytiri.)
- They both are raised by another race. (Gorilla and Na'vi)
- They both have close childhood friends who are natives of their respective home worlds. (Kiri, Terk and Tantor)
- They both have adoptive parents (Kerchak and Neytiri) who allow them to stay with Na'vi and Gorillas but they aren't accepting of them to be part of the family and refused accepting them as son because they are not a member of their races (Na'vi and Gorillas).
- Additionally, they both have a healthier relationship with their opposite approve parents (Jake and Kala).
- They both try to avoid their respective adoptive parents, Neytiri and Kerchak, who are distrustful of them since they are not a member of their races (Na'vi and Gorillas) and they believe themselves that Spider and Tarzan never to be one of Na'vi and Gorillas clans, never give Spider and Tarzan chances but they always believe Spider and Tarzan belong their own kinds also they worrying Spider and Tarzan putting risk safety of the Na'vi and Gorillas in danger, Luckily, Jake and Kala able to defend for Spider and Tarzan from Kerchak and Neytiri's wrath before they want to get rid of Spider and Tarzan
- They both grew up as young adults who want to be accepted to fit in Na'vi and Gorillas trying to fit in like others
- They both spend time with humans and Miles Quaritch for months but still loyalty to Na'vi and Gorillas
- They both refuse giving up to Clayton and RDA the Na'vi and Gorillas's location.
- They are both able to live in the languages of animals and Na'vi
- They both realized that Miles Quaritch and Clayton they are evil while Spider save Miles Quaritch underwater and Tarzan didn't finish off Clayton instead spare his life by break his rifle after they stand up to them, they not like man or Na'vi to Clayton and Miles Quaritch but greedy, cold hearted monsters
- They both gain acceptance from one parent (Kala and Jake) but not the other (Kerchak and Neytiri). They were always part of the family, always one of Na'vi and Gorillas at the end when Spider and Tarzan manage to save them, they are accepting them as sons.
- It is quite possible that Kiri and Spider's friendship will ultimately lead to the Na'vi and humans coexisting with each other in the future.
- It is likely that Spider's character is considered an alien for humans due to the fact that he was not born on Earth and instead of that Spider was born in Pandora being the first Pandorian human
