Miles "Tails" Prower is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Amy Rose) of the comic series Sonic the Comic. He is a young fox hailing from Nameless Zone, and Sonic the Hedgehog's sidekick. Though he was far from a true hero at first, and even lied about his achievements to his peers to feel better, he ultimately matured and became a Freedom Fighter in his own right.
Biography[]
Sonic the Comic[]
Miles Prower comes from Nameless Zone, a region of Mobius that seems to be stuck in the Middle Ages. Throughout his life, he was bullied for his extra tail, which gave him his nickname. One day, he ended up in Swampland Zone and would have drowned had Sonic not been around to save him. The two would eventually become friends and fight the evil Dr. Robotnik's forces together, even as he flung them and their friends into the future and took over Mobius in their absense.
Throughout his adventures, Tails wrote home to his family about them, but claimed in his letters that he was the one doing all the heroics while Sonic was his sidekick. The zone's Enchanter Kings believed him, and thus often summoned the boy to deal with threats to the realm. Tails never had the courage to admit he was lying, and often achieved victories against the Nameless Zone's villains by sheer luck, though ultimately he did manage to rescue the zone from the Evil One and free the third Enchanter King from his possession. Aside from his solo adventures back home, he assisted the Chemical Plant Zone rebels under the moniker of the "Zonerunner", but most of the time, he stood by the other Freedom Fighters' side, and fought Robotnik as a member of them.
Alternate timelines[]
In a timeline where Sonic never existed, created by the omnipotent Robotnik, the hedgehog wasn't around to save Tails from drowning, leading to his death. In another, horror-themed reality created by the doctor, Tails' nickname can be seen on one of the tombstones on the site of Sonic and Robotnik's fight.

Act 1[]
After over a year of absense, Tails returned to the Nameless Zone, still occupied by the Goblin Nation, to help the local resistance. During a mission to stop a train carrying goblin workers, Tails realized, to his horror, that his ally Morain planned to blow it up and kill those on board. When a fight broke out on the train, the fox prevented an explosion by throwing the dynamite out, and left for Mobius filled with doubt.
After Sonic was framed as a criminal and became a fugitive, Tails was forced to take up the mantle of the hero of Mobius while his friend was on the run. He was one of the few who still believed that Sonic was a hero. During the war against the New Robotnik Empire, he became the mascot, and de facto member, of a superhero team "The Ultimax". Once Robotnik and his puppeteers from the Drakon Empire were defeated, Tails forced Percival Kane to release the evidence absolving Sonic of accusations, clearing his name.
During a fight against Vermin's Badniks, Sonic and Tails ended up in the Nameless Zone, where the hedgehog finally learned about his friend's adventures there, while Tails was forced to admit that he lied about his heroics in the letters back home. That said, though nobody held it against him, taking his genuine heroics into consideration.

Tails was on the Floating Island, taking part in the final battle between the Freedom Fighters and Robotnik.
Personality[]
Tails was a cowardly and insecure person back when he met Sonic, although even before that fateful day he was able to overcome his fear when others needed his help. Fighting Robotnik's Badnik and the many threats back in the Nameless Zone had toughened the fox kit, allowing him to take on many villains on his own. Back when he wasn't so competent, he overexaggerated his achievements in the letters back home, leading to everyone there believing Tails to be a great hero, which he later regretted as it caused him nothing but trouble. Even though Tails doesn't like being underestimated, he isn't prone to holding grudges.
Tails had to face many challenges before and after his newfound status as the hero of Mobius. When he learned that Morain had become an extremist in her strive to defeat the goblins, he felt doubt over who he should support in the conflict. He decided to show Morain that Mobius faced an even worse war, convincing her to try and seek peace. As time went by, he got used to his position and fame, and managed to become a decent leader to other heroes.
Tails still has a strong sense of justice, holding no respect for "heroes" who risk others' lives in a bid for fame, like Bagstille, or those slandering Sonic, like Kane.
Trivia[]
- Unlike the case is in most continuities, this version of Tails isn't a child prodigy, and is in fact considered stupid in-universe, even by Sonic himself. Despite this, he can still fly the Tornado perfectly at a young age.
- Unlike his game counterpart, Tails has brown eyes instead of blue. In Sonic the Comic Online!, however, his eyes became blue as well.
