“ | Roxxon did this uptown 'cause they saw us as disposable. Me. Rick. Phin. All of Harlem. I think part of our job's making sure they can't get away with it. | „ |
~ Miles to Peter after stopping Roxxon Energy. |
“ | Miles Morales: That was pretty good. But... I'm no Peter Parker. Peter Parker: Exactly. You're Miles Morales. You're seventeen years old, and a student at Brooklyn Vision Academy. What else? Miles Morales: I guess I... help out with my mum's work in Harlem every now and then-- she's Councilwoman Rio Morales. And... there is a girl I like who's spectacular, and inspiring, and I think is one of the best artists in this city. And... I also got bitten by a radioactive spider that gave me super powers. I learned how to be a Spider-Man from the OG... But I learned how to be a hero from my dad. He was killed by Martin Li... in the City Hall bombing. The good I try to do every day... is the good my dad planted in me. But it's been hard. Even with super powers, sometimes we can't save the people we love, no matter how hard we try. A hero's someone who doesn't give up, though. And I don't plan to. |

~ Miles' introduction in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. |
Miles Gonzalo Morales, also known as Spider-Man, is one of the titular two main protagonists (alongside Peter Parker) of Insomniac‘s Spider-Man video game series, which is based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name.
A teenage New Yorker, he is one of the best friends of Peter Parker and the son of NYPD Officer Jefferson Davis. Peter befriended Miles after his father's death, introducing him to the non-profit F.E.A.S.T. shelter so he can serve as a volunteer for his aunt May Parker. Miles' assistance to Peter and Mary Jane Watson allowed the trio stop the Sinister Six from infecting all of New York with Devil's Breath.
After getting bitten by a radioactive spider, he eventually gains spider-like powers himself, prompting him to reveal this to Peter, who then reveals that he is Spider-Man. Having gone through months of training, Miles faces the challenge of protecting New York on his own without Peter, who goes away for vacation for a few weeks. During that time, he finds himself in a raging conflict between the Roxxon Corporation and the newly formed Underground gang, led by Miles' best friend Phin Mason (also known as the Tinkerer). The conflict ended with Simon Krieger's arrest, but with Phin sacrificing herself to help Miles save Harlem.
Ten months later, Miles struggles balancing his personal life with his crime-fighting career but a new face arrives in the form of Kraven the Hunter. The conflict also interwind's with the return of Parker's best friend Harry Osborn, as the Venom symbiote comes into play with its plan to terraform Earth.
He is voiced and motion-captured by Nadji Jeter, who also voiced a version of the character in the Spider-Man 2017 TV series and Sam in The Last of Us.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Miles was born around the year 2002 in Brooklyn, New York City to the police officer Jefferson Davis and school teacher Rio Morales. According to Jefferson, Miles developed an inclination for technology at an early age, taking apart his family's television at the age of five. During his childhood, he was close with his uncle Aaron, with the two playing basketball with Jefferson and creating beats. However, Aaron's past as the criminal Prowler was investigated by Jefferson, resulting in the brothers having a falling and Miles not seeing him for years. At some point, Morales became friends with Phin Mason and her brother Rick, with the trio sharing a strong enthusiasm for science.
At some point, Miles and Phin created an energy converter with Rick's help, which was featured at the Oscorp Science Expo Center. While the two were close once, Miles was enrolled at Brooklyn Visions Academy as Phin attended Midtown High, resulting in the two not seeing each other before the events of Miles Morales. As a teenager, he and his friends developed a phone app that allowed them to hack into almost any technology, even military-grade equipment. In addition, Morlales befriended fellow Brooklyn Visions student Ganke Lee.
Marvel's Spider-Man[]
Miles first appears when Spider-Man takes down the Inner Demon's helicopter, gaining footage of the event. Players first take the role of Miles during the And the Award Goes to... mission, where his father is killed while protecting the gathered crowd from bombers from the Inner Demons. He manages to find his mother, helping pull her from the rubble, and then ultimately finds his father's body. While Miles is found by the Inner Demons, Mister Negative decides to spare his life. Miles understandably has trouble dealing with his father's death, brushing off Peter Parker's attempt to console him at Davis's funeral. Remembering his own experience losing his father figure, Peter has Aunt May reach out to Rio, hoping that working at the F.E.A.S.T. shelter will help Miles process his grief.
Miles is working at the shelter when the prisoners escape from Ryker's Island and The Raft, as he is helping Aunt May with those sick from Devil's Breath. He becomes trapped with her inside the building after the convicts set it ablaze, before Spider-Man arrives to save them both. In a twist of irony, Miles then has to save Spider-Man with the help of Mary Jane Watson.
Later, while on a supply run for more medicine, he comes across Rhino and Scorpion of the Sinister Six. His information leads to their apprehension after he successfully sneaks away.
While helping out at the shelter later on, Miles is bitten by an Oscorp genetically modified spider that escapes from Norman Osborn's secret lab; it ultimately imbues him with abilities like Spider-Man, which he then reveals to Peter. Peter then reveals his secret identity to Miles by jumping on the ceiling.
The City That Never Sleeps[]
Miles calls Peter during the Black Cat incident, asking about getting some training for his powers. While Peter is unwilling to let Miles jeopardize his life by following in his footsteps, Miles admits that he accidentally used his powers to show off in basketball. Promising not to do it again as long as Peter trains him, Miles manages to convince Peter to consider it. During the Maggia gang wars in Episode 2: Turf Wars, it's revealed that Peter has indeed begun giving Miles training lessons in his powers.
Bolstered by the newfound knowledge he is learning, Miles contacts Peter about doing hero work. His questions are gently shot down by Peter, who warns him about the responsibility associated with his powers. Not heeding Peter's warning, he tries jumping off of a bridge, breaking his toe in his process. Peter reiterates his previous statement about being responsible and Miles promises to do better. Peter then agrees to meet Miles that weekend for another lesson.
Moving to Harlem[]
After a couple of months have passed, Miles and his mother have moved into Harlem, with his mother campaigning as a councilwoman. Miles, on the other hand, has becoming more experienced at being a superhero but still not on par with his mentor's skill.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales[]

~ A Harlem citizen to a reporter on Miles Morales as Spider-Man. |
During Christmas day, him and Peter were to monitor a prison convoy who were being sent back to the Raft. The Rhino, the most dangerous inmate from the convoy managed to escape despite Mile's best effort to contain the situation. While Peter was mostly busy stopping Aleksei, who was rampaging through New York, Miles had to deal with the other escaped convicts. However, it was too much for Peter to handle and was knocked out. Rhino turned his attention to Miles now, with Peter urging him to run. Refusing his mentor's plea, he proceeded to punch the villain with his venom power for the very first time. Shocked by his newfound ability, Miles uses it to defeat the hulking Rhino just as Roxxon and its CEO, Simon Krieger, come in and apprehend Rhino.
After that, Peter reveals that him and MJ are leaving for Symkaria for a few weeks. Impressed with his handling of the situation that day, Peter feels confident in Miles's abilities and reassures him that he will do good. Later that evening, after showing his best friend Ganke the suit Peter made for Miles, he went to check on Roxxon Plaza. There, he found a new gang called the Underground trying to steal Roxxon's energy source, Nuform. Once he defeated the gang members, he went back home for Christmas dinner, where he was reunited with his childhood friend, Phin Mason.
The following day, Ganke introduces the new app the two have been working on that allows Miles to help out the neighborhood as Spider-Man. The first request he took came from his own uncle, Aaron Davis, who he didn't tell about his secret identity. After finishing his request, Davis confronted Miles and admitted he knew he was Spider-Man. He says that he's proud of Miles and knows his father would be too, and that if he was ever in trouble to give him a call. Later on, Miles and Ganke attend Rio's rally before the Underground arrive and attack Roxxon. Miles proceeds to fight against the Underground and their leader, the Tinkerer, whom is revealed to be Phin. During the fight, Morales accidently sets off Nuform with his venom power and has to save the citizens before the bridge collapses.
After saving everyone from the bridge's collapse, Roxxon brands the new superhero a criminal, which causes Miles to unlock his camouflage power and escape. Despite this setback, Ganke encourages Miles to be his own Spider-Man, and they proceeded to create a new costume. With the revelation of Phin being the Tinkerer, Morales visits the Mason family's repair shop and sees a video of Rick explaining that his exposure to Nuform is killing him. Miles then gathers data to locate Phin's phone and infiltrates Roxxon's lab, where he encounters his uncle donning his Prowler suit. The two worked together to reach the Nuform reactor prototype room, and Miles collects Phin's phone. The footage reveals that Krieger killed Rick during his attempt to shut down the reactor, but Phin was able to escape and vowed to stop Roxxon.
Miles then shuts down the reactor prototype by absorbing its energy, which causes to release an explosion that destroys Phin's phone. After escaping with his uncle, he decides to take Aaron's advice to come to Phin as a friend and lie to her to infiltrate the Underground's headquarters. Upon gaining Phin's trust, Miles eavesdrop on her meeting with the Underground and learns of her plan to use Nuform at Roxxon Plaza. He later travels to an auditorium to retrieve Nuform, but is forced to reveal his identity to Phin when she takes it and gave chase. Realizing he messed up, Morales asks Phin to meet him at Trinity Church, but the two are captured by Roxxon.
At Roxxon's facility, the two are interrogated by Krieger before he orders his subordinates to torture Miles for information. However, he activates a new venom power and helps Phin traverse the facility. The two also learn that Prowler was behind their capture from hearing his argument with Krieger, learning that he sold out Phin in exchange for Miles' safety. Reaching the control room, they are confronted by the Rhino but are able to stop him, allowing Miles to download data on the dangers of Nuform. This is stopped when Phin attempts to kill the Rhino, forcing Miles to stop her until she beats him out of her anger for getting in her way.
Needing to stop Phin, Miles contacts Ganke to help him due to his injuries, but Rio's arrival at their apartment leads to him revealing his secret identity. With his mother's support, Miles attempts to hunt down Phin but is captured by Aaron, which results in the two fighting. Morales then chastised his uncle for his actions before returning to his main goal, and battles Phin at Roxxon Plaza. During the battle, Phin realizes her mistake and helps Miles release the Nuform energy by sacrificing herself. Weeks after the event, Krieger is arrested for his crimes after Aaron agreed to testify against him.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2[]
Attending Peter's first day as a Brooklyn Visions Academy teacher, Miles notices sand outside the window and insists that Parker come with him. The duo then fight the Sandman, whom according to MJ, was "yelling nonsense" before transforming and attacking New York. While successful in stopping the criminal, he warns the Spider-Men of a new threat and the they are informed that Sandman crystals are still around the city.
More to be added.
Personality[]
“ | Miles: When I got powers, I thought I would be able to fix anything, do anything that Spider-Man does. Genke: Whenever you say "Spider-Man", you always mean the other one. You're Spider-Man. You can fix this...your way. |
„ |
~ Ganke Lee to Miles in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. |
Miles is a selfless and intelligent young man who repeatedly puts himself at great risk for the people he cares about. He is shown to be as brave as his father, Officer Davis, not thinking twice before helping someone, sometimes, even putting himself in danger. This is shown when he saves a civilian from Ryker's escapees, or when he is assaulted and tries to fight back.
Upon gaining his powers, Miles is shown to be both simultaneously confused and excited, constantly asking Peter if he could provide any aid to the latter's vigilantism. Miles also tends to make jokes, asking Spider-Man if he had a phone in his suit.
When it is up to him on saving the city on his own, Miles has doubts about his capabilities, often comparing himself to Peter. He is not yet adjusted to the burden of being a superhero but is still willing to do whatever it takes to do the right thing, even telling his uncle that can't pick and choose when to be Spider-Man. The revelations of Phin and his Uncle Aaron being The Tinkerer and The Prowler respectively caused a lot of internal conflict to Miles. Even though they are people that he cares about, he really can't condone the crimes they have committed. But Miles has acknowledged their good deeds and what their intentions were and how much he still cares about them.
Like Peter, Miles tends to be sarcastic and witty towards his enemies for mostly the same reason as his mentor: to annoy them or as a mechanism to relieve the stress of his situation. The exception is Martin Li, whom Miles despises for killing his father and intends on killing him before putting his grudge aside to help Peter via Li and ultimately somewhat making amends with his arch-enemy.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Spider Physiology: After Miles is bitten by a radioactive spider, he begins developing superhuman powers similar to, if not identical to, the abilities of Spider-Man. However, Miles has a few additional powers to work with that sets him apart from his predecessor.
- Superhuman Strength: Miles Morales had shown superhuman strength in his legs when he jumped to the ceiling of Peter Parker's new place. Another instance was when he was even strong enough to pull together two portions of a collapsing Brooklyn bridge and even hold onto a bus that was on the verge of falling. After awakening his Venom power, Miles can use it to increase his strength behind his attacks and other manoeuvres, giving him an edge over opponents that outclass him in raw power. Even without Venom, his strength is even sufficient enough for him to hold his own against beings of equal or even greater power. He was able to defeat Rhino, overpowering him with his Venom attacks. He was also able to match a Symbiotized Peter blow for blow, who had increased strength and abilities thanks to the symbiote.
- Superhuman Durability: During a conversation with Peter, Miles mentioned that he jumped off a bridge and only broke his toe.
- Superhuman Speed: He is much faster than the fastest human athlete. He can also keep up with fast-moving vehicles. His Venom powers further enhance his speed to astronomical levels allowing him to blitz through opponents before they can react.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Miles' reflexes are much faster than normal human. This allows him to dodge bullets being fired at him, and keep pace with and even out-manoeuvre foes in combat.
- Superhuman Agility: Miles’ coordination and balance are beyond that of a regular human being. He can perform complex and difficult acrobatic manoeuvres with optimal finesse.
- Wall-Crawling: Miles first demonstrated this to Peter when he clanged onto the ceiling of Peter's new apartment. Just like Peter, he can cling onto most surfaces and scale them without any difficulty.
- Spider Sense: A psychological awareness of his surroundings. Allows Miles to detect incoming danger through a tingling sensation. This makes Miles harder to pin down and take by surprise.
- Venom Power: Unlike his mentor, Miles has the additional ability to weaponize his own bio-electricity which can stun and incapacitate his foes. He can use it to disrupt tech or give it power. He can even absorb energy from other objects and convert it into bio-electricity. However, the more energy he absorbs, the more strenuous it is on his body and he would have to eventually release it, usually to devastating effect. These powers seem to be tied to his emotions and psychological state, as they were unlocked when Rhino threatened Peter in front of him, sending him into a protective rage. Through practice and experience, Miles has gotten the hang of these abilities. His Venom Power comes in many variations:
- Venom Punch: A direct electricity-infused punch that can knock out most opponents and break through most defenses.
- Venom Jump: Launches his enemies within a radius in the air while simultaneously stunned and disarmed. Also used for traversal in conjuction with his swinging to gain more height while in the air.
- Venom Smash: When midair, Miles can do a fast downward punch to the ground. Emits a shockwave that stuns anyone in its radius.
- Venom Dash: Miles infuses bio-electricity with his lower body to launch himself at his enemy, shocking and throwing them afterwards. Much like Venom Jump, Miles also uses it for traversal, able to briefly dash through the air, similar to flying.
- Mega Venom Blast: Arguably Miles' deadliest ability. He can unleash a wide net of his own electrical energy in a large radius, incapacitating all enemies within it. However, this drains Miles as well, thus only being able to do it sparingly.
- Evolved Venom Powers: As a result of seeing Martin Li again, Miles’ rage towards him awakened a volatile energy of blue bio-electricity in his body, granting him newer and more powerful counterpart versions of his original venom powers:
- Chain Lightning: Alternative to his Venom Punch, Miles can project a chain bolt of lightning from his hands towards more than one target.
- Thunder Burst: Seconded to Venom Dash where instead of just hurling further distance, his evolved ability allows him to reach other distant targets by landing with a burst that can knock groups of enemies down.
- Reverse Flux: Opposite to Venom Smash, where he emits shockwaves. This evolved version releases a pulse that pulls in enemies.
- Galvanize: His evolutionary feat of Venom Jump, allows Miles to uppercut a nearby opponent with attacks of lightning strikes that then spread to every other on the ground surface.
- Camouflage: Also unlike Peter, Miles can turn translucent, blending in with his surroundings. This allows him a safe retreat from battle, and into stealth where he can take out enemies silently and slip into places unnoticed.
Abilities[]
- Gifted Intellect: Miles displays a natural aptitude for science and technology. Officer Jefferson Davis talks about his son's natural aptitude for tech loosely, setting up the reveal that Miles is actually a bit of a nerd who goes to Robotics Club at school and knows his way around tech. At the age of 15, he has already developed an app that allows him to hack military-grade equipment.
- Skilled Combatant: Prior to encountering Spider-Man, Miles demonstrated some simple forms of combat, being able to tackle a thug and take him down to the ground but was immediately overpowered. These skills improved noticeably upon gaining some training from Peter, with the youth even succeeding in landing an unprecedented punch on the latter's jaw, taking him by surprise. After gaining his Spider powers and through on the field experience, Miles’ combat skills improved drastically. Despite being trained by Peter, he is still relatively inexperienced. His fighting style incorporates a rudimentary form of boxing, capoiera and breakdancing. Despite Miles’ lack of skill compared to Peter and most of the villains he comes up against, he more than makes up for it by combining his base Spider powers and his bio-electric Venom powers, making his style of fighting very tricky and devastating to counter. His feats include defeating Rhino, who was able to knock Peter out and injure him grievously. He was also able to defeat both the Prowler and The Tinkerer on the same day, despite them both having greater skill and experience than him. Most notable of all, Miles was able hold his own and even defeat a Symbiote-enhanced Peter, showing just how far he has come. Though unable to defeat Venom on his own, he was eventually able to defeat him by some tag-team work with Peter.
- Indomitable Will: Even before obtaining his spider powers, Miles idolized his father who states a hero is someone who never gives up which inspired him to possess head-strong attitude of willpower throughout his journey. As shown in City Hall after Martin Li's negative energy causes an explosion Miles wakes up to stealthily move around the henchmen to find his dad successfully until he witnesses him dying and growing vengeance towards Negative Man that he even attempted to attack him with a pole but failed and was rescued by Spider-Man. For the "Devil’s Breath" outbreak and "Sinister Six" running loose around New York, he volunteered at F.E.A.S.T to go out to find medical supplies but encounters the Rhino and manages to stay calm and keep himself safe by using the environment as an advantage to escape from the latter with the medicine then come across two street thugs who attempt to rough him up however thanks to Spider-Man’s guidance of throwing a punch properly Miles was able to stand his ground and knock one out while scaring the other away. Afterward, after being bitten by a radioactive spider, he begins training with Peter who mentors him in becoming the new Spider-Man, in the fight with Rhino his Venom Powers manifest Peter leaves town and Morales is now the only hero to protect it as the Underground’s lead by Tinkerer attacks the Roxxon truck filled with Newform on the bridge he manages to stop them but caused its platform to collapse while saving the people who support him when Roxxon soldiers aim at him however misses as his Camouflage allows him to flee and reach home. Miles is in so much despair that he believes if his mother hadn’t been present she be okay, but Rio compliments him as she states that in their family they don't surrender and Ganke instructs him that he and his powers aren’t what makes him a hero like his mentor and enlightens Morales with hope to overcome his doubt by crafting a new suit resembling his own persona. During the journey of locating Newform, he realizes that his friend Phin was the Tinkerer trying to avenge her brother by blowing up the Roxxon building after locating her phone he finds a generator filled with Newform and absorbs it throughout the strain and survives then gets sidetracked as his Uncle Aaron/Prowler kidnaps him in a cell to protect him from the dangers of the cooperation but he says that being Spider-Man isn’t a choice and that he’ll still be the one to stop the Underground as he builds up his venom to punch his way out of the cell and wins a fight against the Prowler then later at night heads to Roxxon foundation in Harlem to confront Tinkerer who continually attacks him in their battle and questions why it is that Morales won’t stop he says out of a heart that he’s his own Spider-Man before the building falls apart and he falls to catch Phin in time to land on the ground safely saving them both and limps over to the Newform core and shows tremendous determination in absorbing all its huge amount of it that it’s prevents the explosion and for Tinkerer to get him up to the sky for him to expel the energy out of his body and sacrifices herself for him to live. Two years later, Miles goes through struggles as Martin Li resurfaces and the hatred builds in him that awakens new powers as well as teaches him to grow, when getting stung by Scorpion he goes through hallucinations that drives him almost insane but resists in time to snap back to reality, as well as his mind-space was capable of overcoming Negative Man’s energy putting him in a trance as each trial in his head saw all his loved ones telling him to that he was a problem and should stop being a superhero however when seeing his father’s face again he breaks free from those burdens and chooses to let go of his vengeance towards the latter. Later on, he also remains capable of fighting off the temptation of bonding with the Symbiote as Venom places him into a trance to lure his twisted desires to come true but he is self-aware of the threat and rejects it.
Paraphernalia[]
- Hacking App: Miles has a hacking app in his phone which allows him to hack into nearby devices and cause distractions.
- Gadgets: Notably has less gadgets to use than Peter Parker.
- Web shooters: When training with his mentor, Miles was gifted by Peter Parker his own web shooters to swing around with as well as stick enemies/threats to walls. Later on after being New York’s only Spider-Man he crafted his own outfit to integrate them in the suit.
- Holo-drones: After obtaining a piece of Tinkererʼs equipment, Miles crafted a mobile version of Peter’s hologram simulation to create portable henchmen who provide help when he is losing to battle between large groups of enemies.
- Remote mines: Morales gets handed from his Uncle the Prowler, small mines to launch and electrify enemies with a far more powerful and dangerous surge than O.G. Spider-Man’s Electric Web, which could immediately perform an instant kill after mining the gadget to either electric boxes or cable plugs when activated manually.
- Gravity wells: A device that generates pulling pressure which makes enemies defenseless by knocking them down and making them vulnerable to Venom attacks.
- Friendly Neighborhood App: Created with his best friend, Ganke Lee. Allows for people to report crimes or requests that Miles can do as Spider-Man.
