Mindy Simmons is a former employee of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. She likes the same things as Homer Simpson, like donuts. When Homer met her at work, he found himself highly attracted to her.
She is voiced by Michelle Pfieffer who would later on voice Tzipporah.
Biography[]
Mindy Simmons was hired as an engineer at the nuclear power plant due to Mr. Burns being pressured to employ at least one woman. Homer found himself instantly attracted to his new colleague, which unsettled him. Following Barney's advice, he attempted to befriend Mindy, assuming the attraction was merely physical. Yet, the more he got to know her, the more he realized they had much in common, including their love for beer, junk food, and television. Mindy also felt a pull towards Homer, and despite his efforts to keep his distance, fate seemed to have other plans, continually bringing them together.
Homer attempted to reach a crisis hotline but inadvertently confessed to Ned Flanders, who breached confidentiality by informing Marge. In a panic, Homer stumbled and lost consciousness. While unconscious, he encountered his guardian angel, resembling Colonel Klink, who intended to demonstrate the dire consequences of leaving Marge for Mindy. Contrary to expectations, the vision revealed a prosperous and joyful marriage between Homer and Mindy, while Marge ascended to the presidency of the United States.
Eventfully, Homer resolved to inform Mindy that their mutual attraction necessitated they stay apart moving forward. However, Mr. Burns misinterpreted their uneasy exchange as a dialogue between good friends and chose them to represent the nuclear power plant at the National Energy Convention in Capital City, with accommodation at the Capital City Plaza Hotel.
Throughout his stay, Homer was strongly tempted to start an affair, feeling pushed by a fortune cookie's prediction of new love. As they spent more time together, their mutual attraction grew, culminating in an accidental kiss while sharing a chili dog. Following a romantic dinner, the prize for winning the convention, they returned to Homer's hotel room. There, Homer shared his conflicted feelings with Mindy, torn between her and his love for Marge. Mindy reassured him that he wasn't obligated to act against his will, leaving the decision to him. After contemplation, Homer chose to remain loyal to Marge. Mindy respected his choice, and they exchanged a platonic kiss before parting ways.
