~ Mine |
Mine is one of the tritagonists of the manga and anime series Akame ga Kill!. She is a self pro-claimed "genius sniper", as well as being a sharp-tongued and quick-witted member of the assassin's group, Night Raid. Despite not thinking much of Tatsumi at first, she slowly falls in love with him and eventually becomes his girlfriend and wife. After exhausting all her power to save Tatsumi, Mine falls into a comatose state. In the anime, she dies instead of falling into a coma.
She is voiced by Yukari Tamura in Japanese and by Christina Kelly in English.
Appearance[]
Mine is a beautiful teenage girl of petite build with long pink hair that is usually tailed in pigtails on both sides and eyes of the same color. Her signature attire is a long skirt of matching colors with pink skirt and a paler pink color for the rest of her clothing. Her legs wear black leggings and ballet shoes.
Personality[]
Mine's experiences facing discrimination because of her mixed heritage drive her strong opposition to racial bias. These encounters shape her unwavering commitment to equality. As time passes, she develops reciprocal romantic feelings for Tatsumi, leading to a committed partnership. Since getting romantically involved with Tatsumi, she feels envy when Leone flirts with him. This motivates her to encourage Tatsumi to firmly reject such advances. Moreover, she shows deep worry for Tatsumi's safety, especially during his absence, revealing unexpected concern about their lack of communication. Additionally, she displays a tendency to become quickly angered and annoyed around unfamiliar people. It's typical for her to tease Tatsumi, the newest addition to the group, frequently expressing doubts about his endurance. Despite her initial distance, she reveals a gentle and compassionate side to those she trusts. She even resorts to playful banter with Tatsumi on one occasion to divert his attention from Susanoo's demise.
History[]
Originating from the western outskirts of the Empire, she came from a poor family. In her early years, tragedy struck when her parents passed away, leaving her to navigate the streets alone as an orphan. Enduring the bias against her mixed-race heritage, she found comfort in the Revolutionary Army's cause, which aimed to form alliances with western nations. Motivated by the vision of a future where her people would gain acceptance, she fought tirelessly to end the suffering she had experienced. Paired with Tatsumi on a mission, she offered insights into the Empire and Night Raid's members, forging a connection through jovial banter. Their alliance persisted through subsequent missions, including the elimination of the Prime Minister's kin, Iokal. Despite reservations, she ultimately placed her trust in Tatsumi's faith in her marksmanship, strengthening their bond amidst shared peril.
Her subsequent assignment with Sheele led to a clash with the relentless Seryu Ubiquitous, resulting in grave injury for Mine. Sheele's sacrifice bolstered their resolve, fueling Mine's thirst for vengeance against Seryu. Engaged in a confrontation with Dr. Stylish, Mine and Tatsumi united against formidable adversaries, unwavering in their determination despite facing Sheele's former Teigu wielded by the foe. With the aid of new allies, they emerged triumphant, fortifying their bond amid the heat of battle. Tasked with eliminating the Empire's spy Bolic, Night Raid confronted the relentless pursuit of the Jaegers. Amid the turmoil, Mine grappled with conflicting emotions upon encountering Kurome, seeking to spare Akame the anguish of confronting her sister. Despite her resolve, the conflict escalated, resulting in Mine's perilous encounter with Kurome's deadly puppet. Through subsequent skirmishes, Mine and Tatsumi's partnership flourished, their shared trials fostering a profound connection. Encouraged by the leader of the Path of Peace, they confronted their burgeoning feelings amidst their tumultuous missions. As they readied to confront Bolic, Mine's affection for Tatsumi deepened, despite the teasing of her comrades. Amidst the chaos of battle, she risked everything to rescue Tatsumi from certain demise, ultimately sacrificing herself to vanquish their formidable adversary. Though her fate seemed sealed, the manga hinted at optimism as Mine survived, albeit in a coma, eventually reuniting with Tatsumi.
Their love endured amidst the ravages of war, ushering in a new chapter as they embraced parenthood in a tranquil haven far from the strife of conflict.
