Miriam Mendelsohn is one of the three deuteragonists (alongside Abby Park and Priya Mangal) of Pixar's 25th full-length animated feature film Turning Red. She is the best friend of Mei Lee and is a loving person. She likes the band 4*Town (making her a 4*Townie).
Miriam is voiced by Ava Morse.
Biography[]
Miriam, along with Abby and Priya, is first introduced by Mei when she arrives at school. She and the other greet Mei before getting ready for class. A few hours after, she and her friends leave the school and walk with Mei. The quickly stop when they see Devon, a store clerk whom she, Abby, and Priya all have a crush on. Mei, however, claims she doesn't have a crish on Devon, and informs them that popular boy band 4*Town are what real men should look like. The three friends agree with Mei, but tell her that tickets to 4*Town are too expensive, whereas they can see Devon any time they want.
Miriam, Abby, and Priya all ask Mei if she wants to go Karaoking with them. Mei tells them she can't, as she has to help mom her mom run the temple. Before Mei can live, Miriam gets her to sing with them. After she does so, Miriam hands her a 4*Town CD, and allows Mei to head back home.
After Mei's first transformation, she wants again meets up with her three friends. All three of them suspect that something is up with Mei as she is acting unusual. During this time, Tyler decides to bully Mei, prompting Mei's friends to jump to her defence. Miriam follows Mei to class, defending her from another students who asks what's up with her, and asks Mei if there's anything wrong. Mei claims the she's simply excited about maths. Not wanting to talk verbally, the two pass notes to each other.
Mei becomes horrified when she sees that the last note Miriam gave her had the word "Your mom is outise" written on it. As Mei is panicking, Miriam observes Ming's arguement with Malik in confusion. Once Mei reaches her breaking point and tranforms after Ming tells her she forgot her pads, Miriam ducks for cover as the desks are sent flying. She watches Mei run away from school, unnaware that she had transformed into a giant red panda.
She, Abby, and Priya decide to visit Mei at her house, realsing that something is up since she hasn't been at school for several days. When they see Mei's red panda form, the three of them freak out, but quickly calm down when they realise it is their friend. After talking with Mei, the latter tells them that her transformations are a genetic condition she got from her mum, telling them it will go away eventually. However, Mei breaks down as she realises that it might never go away, and tells them to go to the 4*Town concert without her after Abby tells her the concert is on the 18th, six days before the ritual.
Personality[]
Miriam is a good-hearted best friend of Mei who loves to sing and dance. She is the closest to Mei out of all her friends, cheering her up when she has trouble and cries. She is very caring and sensitive, which is shown when she learns that Ming, Mei's mother doesn't appreciate her or when she feels betrayed by Mei and is the one who finds it harder to forgive her. Despite their argument, Miriam continues to care about Mei because she kept Robaire Jr. with her even if she doesn't assume it. She is also shown to be protective of her friends such as when she defends Mei against Tyler's mocking and other students' remarks about Mei's behavior.

Miriam has brown hair, a green beanie, silver earrings, and braces. She is a tall preteen girl with a green jacket, a white shirt, and a black necklace.

Trivia[]
- In the beginning of "Nobody Like U" she sings the meme song Boots and Cats.
- Despite her name being given as "Miriam Wexler" on the "Nobody Like U" music video, the Pixar website states that her name is "Miriam Mendelsohn".
- Miriam is the first Pixar heroine to wear prominent braces, the second being Riley Andersen.
