“ | I… I'm sorry. Really! I... (sigh).. Listen. You ponies have been nothing but good to me. You treated me better than any pony ever has. You treated me like a friend. And it's my turn to do the same!... I'd rather be a pony without a Cutie Mark forever than live one more day as a pony who does the wrong thing! | „ |
~ Misty apologizing to the Mane Five, setting them free from being trapped by Opaline, and redeeming herself — also her most famous quote. |
“ | Yes. You can. I know it doesn't feel like it right now, but you all have something to offer. You're all smart and brave and kind. I've seen you. Any of you would do anything to help your fellow pony. Even you, Sprout. (Sprout: Really? Aww!) Look, I know Opaline. She's awful. She kept me locked in her lair for moons. But I survived all of it. Even without a cutie mark. Yes, your cutie marks are special. But they're not the only thing that makes you special. And nopony can take away what makes you special on the inside. | „ |
~ Misty encouraged the ponies in Maretime Bay to not give up hope during Opaline's reign of terror. |
“ | You didn't give me my cutie mark, Opaline. I earned it by helping my friends. And that's something else you can't take away from me! | „ |

Misty Brightdawn is one of the tritagonists (alongside Sparky) of the fifth generation of the My Little Pony franchise. She was the adoptive daughter of Queen Opaline who obeyed her evil orders to earn her cutie mark, but later redeems herself when she realizes that she had put her friends, the Mane Five in danger.
She is voiced by Bahia Watson, who also voiced Lettie of the Calypso Crew in Big Blue and Orange Blossom from Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City.
Personality[]
Misty is a unicorn who was kidnapped as a very young filly and got adopted by Opaline. Because of this, she has issues with socializing with other ponies (inc. the Mane Five). She also fears her own adoptive mother because of Opaline's abusive, mistreating, cunning behavior. However, her sociable personality changes as she interacts more with the Mane Five. And eventually, during the end of the fourth chapter of Make Your Mark, she betrays her own adoptive mother to save her friends from danger and started to help them defeat Opaline, showing her loyalty to her friends. In spite of being on the other side, Misty was still very sensitive about cowards and noise which makes more unnerving.
Physical Appearance[]
Misty is a slender, sky-blue-coated female Unicorn, having freckles on her cheeks. Her fetlocks, insides of her ears, as well as her chest to her stomach, colored a pink. She possesses mint-green eyes, small yet fluttery-like eyelashes, hale-navy eyebrows, grayish-purple hooves, as well as having a kinky, navy-blue mane and tail with teal-green highlights, with her mane being swooped to her right side with three cornrows on the left side of her scalp. As per her pony type, she possesses a long, bumpy horn with a sky-blue and lavender-pink gradient, complete with a pattern of pink swirls around it.
Before Chapter 4, Misty did not have a cutie mark. However, in order to blend in, she drew one of a butterfly with navy-blue outlines, complete with lavender-pink accents, as well as a small, lavender-pink heart on top.
As of Chapter 4, Misty finally received a cutie mark as reward for freeing the Mane Five; a butterfly with its body being colored in a coral-pink, with its dark purple and magenta-pink wings having magenta and coral-pink spots. To match her cutie mark, Misty also had her mane and tail dyed to a gradient of two-tone purple and hot-pink, with noticeable tips of coral-orange. Along with her new appearance, she now wears a friendship bracelet on her left hoof that Izzy made for her, which has the Mane Five's cutie marks printed on its pendants.
In Tell Your Tale, the teal-green streaks in Misty's previous mane color are more thicker, due to the more simplistic art style. During the episodes she appeared in, she wore a necklace with dark purple diamonds adorning the string. Her necklace also features a large, golden mirror-like pendant which, when opened, reveals Opaline's coat and eye color before letting out a mist with a holographic-like version of her in it, suggesting that it is a way to communicate with Misty.
When she was a filly, Misty kept her mane in afro puffs with a few coiled bangs peeking out.
History[]
Past[]
Misty is the daughter of Alphabittle Blossomforth and an unknown mother. As a filly, she wondered off following a bunny-corn who led her to a large tree with a magical door. Her father began searching for her as she got lost and fog surrounded her, transporting her to an unknown land where Opaline would find and adopt her, becoming her new slave and adoptive daughter.
My Little Pony: Make Your Mark[]
Misty, now a grown pony, continues to serve Opaline under the promise of a cutie mark. Opaline gives her various missions in Chapter 2, including trapping Zipp and Pipp inside a cave and stealing Sunny's lantern, all of which fail. During this time, Misty befriends the Mane Five although they were unaware that she was working for Opaline, and she starts to realize how evil and cruel she is while struggling between whether she should continue serving Opaline or be loyal to her new friends. After failing to steal the lantern, Opaline orders her to kidnap Sparky so she can absorb his dragon fire to become more powerful.
Misty eventually succeeds in capturing Sparky in "Missing the Mark" but begins to regret her actions and decides to return him back to the Mane Five only for Opaline to appear, having seen that Misty successfully captured her. Opaline takes Sparky up to her lair and begins absorbing his dragon fire and Misty regrets everything and returns to the Crystal Brighthouse to warn the Mane Five about Sparky's capture in the hooves of Opaline. She leads them to Opaline's castle, but before they can save Sparky, Opaline appears and traps the Mane Five inside a magic bubble, revealing that Misty had been working for Opaline the entire time. Having lost her new friends and seeing that her former friends are in danger, Misty decides to forget about earning a cutie mark and instead to save her friends. This results in her getting a real cutie mark, a butterfly that resembles the one she drew on her flank to blend in. She then comes up with a plan to defeat Opaline and pretends to be trapped while Sunny Starscout battles Opaline and, strengthened by her friends cutie mark magic, defeats her and traps her inside a magic bubble. Afterwards, Misty returns to the Crystal Brighthouse to apologize for her actions and vows to help them defeat Opaline once and for all.
