Moblit Berner is a character in the manga and anime series, Attack on Titan. He was a member of the Survey Corps, being a part of the Fourth Squad and acted as Hange Zoe’s personal assistant during her research.
Appearance[]
Moblit was a younger man of average height. He had short smooth brown hair that slightly parted on his forehead. He had brown eyes and often looked very anxious due to Hange Zoe’s eccentric behavior, but he otherwise had a rather timid expression.
Moblit was often seen wearing the standard Survey Corps uniform with a dark green button up shirt underneath. He also wears the Survey Corps’ green cloak while on expeditions.
Personality[]
Moblit’s personality appears to be at a stark contrast to that of his superior, Hange Zoe. While she was often seen being very energetic and had a rather impulsive character, Moblit was notably more, calm, obedient, and careful. These differences are what would cause Moblit to always be noticeably anxious and fearful while working with Hange, as she can be a danger to herself while working with Titans, and with Hange being Moblit’s responsibility, he would often find himself in a state of hysteria due to her antics. Moblit would often have to refrain from his natural calm personality and start frustratingly shouting at Hange to be more careful. Despite the seemingly “unfortunate” position Moblit was put under, he was genuinely loyal to Hange and had a great sense of duty to her and the cause of humanity, staying by her side and even getting more hostile when his comrades are faced with opposition, such as when he started twisting Peaure's hand when he continued with taking notes despite having been order to stop, and when he forcefully grabbed Djel Sannes’ arm after he just gripped Hange’s jacket.
During Moblit’s final moments, he reinforced how loyal he was as a person when he saved Hange’s life at the last second while leaving himself to perish in the Colossal Titan’s explosive transformation.

Moblit was born on April 24th in an unknown year somewhere inside the Walls. He joined the military when he was old enough and would after his graduation join the Survey Corps.
He presumably started as a Scout when Keith Shadis was still the commander (in the anime continuity the No Regrets episodes are canon, in which Moblit served as a Scout under Shadis, and by 844 he was no longer a recruit). After Moblit survived his first couple of expeditions, he would be appointed to work with Hange Zoe who at some point became a squad leader.

- In the anime version of Attack on Titan: A Choice with no Regrets, Moblit appears as a Survey Corps veteran during 844, a year before the Fall of Wall Maria, already hanging around Hange. In the manga version of the spinoff, he does not appear, and only Hange does.
- It is possible that in the manga he was part of the Survey Corps under Keith Shadis who survived before the Marleyan invasion and Warrior Unit infiltration of the Walls, as he was part of Erwin Smith's secret plan to capture the Female Titan. However, not everyone involved with the capture operation was necessarily a survivor from before the Fall, as Erwin might have given instructions to subordinates kept in the dark to simply carry the weaponry equipment for the capture attempt, without telling them the details. Thus in the manga version, it is unclear if Moblit served under the Corps since before the Fall in 845, and if he knew about the secret plan to lure the Female in a Giant Forest
- In the anime version, due to the No Regrets OVA being canon, Moblit is confirmed as one of the soldiers who survived under Shadis before Wall Maria fell, and were aware of Titan Shifter spies from outside the Walls having infiltrated the Military, as well as knowing the theory that the Colossal and Armored Titans were likely humans. Along with Hange, Erwin, Levi, Mike, Nanaba, and other older veterans, he took part in the secret operation attempt to capture the Female Titan, fully knowing the real purpose of the 57th expedition.
