Template:Infobox characterMors Umber is an uncle of Lord Jon Umber of Last Hearth, an older brother of Hother Umber, and a son of Hoarfrost Umber. While he was drunk and lying by the side of the road a crow took him for dead and pecked out his eye, at which he grabbed the crow by the feet and bit off its head. He is hence known as Mors Crowfood. Mors' wife died in childbirth, both his sons died at the Battle of the Trident during Robert's Rebellion, and his only daughter was kidnapped by Wildling raiders, leaving him with a deep hatred of the Free Folk.

He is left as co-castellan of Last Hearth with his younger brother Hother Umber when his nephew the Greatjon marches off to war with Robb Stark. However at the Red Wedding the Freys and Boltons murder Robb Stark and most of his army, including Mors' great-nephew Smalljon Umber, heir to Last Hearth, and capture many nobles including the Greatjon.

Later when Stannis Baratheon comes to the North Mors agrees to join him if he isn't forced to fight his brother Hother, who, reluctantly, has joined Roose Bolton due to his nephew being the Freys' captive. Stannis intends to use the Wildlings as his troops, but Jon Snow advises against it due to Mors' hatred of the Wildlings. Hother takes the old men of Last Hearth with him to assist the Boltons while Mors takes the green boys. When they approach Winterfell Mors sets his boys to digging pit traps. Theon Greyjoy escapes Winterfell with Jeyne Poole, who has been forced to pretend to be Arya Stark and marry Roose' son Ramsay Bolton to legitimise Bolton rule of the North. Mors asks her questions to make sure she is the real Arya Stark, however due to Jeyne being a girl from Winterfell she answers them correctly. A Frey force then ride out of Winterfell, however their commander Ser Aenys Frey falls into a pit and is killed. Command falls to his half-brother Ser Hosteen Frey, who lost his horse, and while a fierce fighter is not a capable commander.

The Braavosi banker Tycho Nestoris comes to Winterfell looking for Stannis. Mors sends him with Theon and Jeyne to Stannis, who is with his army in a Crofter's village three days from Winterfell. Stannis hears from Theon of Aenys' death, but knows that Mors' forces won't hold the Freys long.
