Mr. Năm Hên, also known as Mr. Năm for short, is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Xô) of the Seven-Colored Rabbit franchise.
He is the 70-year-old grandfather of Xô and the adoptive grandfather of the Seven-Colored Rabbit, and a former war veteran. The patriarch of the house, he often scolds his grandchildren for their recklessness. He has been the victim of the Rabbit and Xô's antics numerous times. Nevertheless, he still loves them all the same and gives them valuable lessons. He also has two other adoptive grandsons, the Catfish Brothers in his house's lake, who often follow him to the market every day.
He is voiced by Harvey Nguyễn, who also voices Quăn in the same series.
Appearance[]
Mr. Năm Hên is an old man with gray hair that tied into a bun, mustache and beard, and a rectangular face. He wears typical brown countryside clothes.
Personality[]
Mr. Năm Hên is the most mature of the three main characters, owing to his age and war experience. He is characterized like a military man: brave, trustful, determined and careful. He would rather be left alone and enjoy mundane things, but the Rabbit's antics keep getting in the way, much to his dismay. He always warns the Rabbit about potential risks which the latter doesn't listen until the consequences happen, after which he is forced to acknowledge Mr. Năm to be right. He also considers every animal in his house his grandchildren, and even has the catfish brothers go with him to the market every day.
Despite his strictness, Mr. Năm does love his grandchildren. When the Rabbit loses the gambling game with the Swallow and thus the entire house and its belongings, Mr. Năm only worries about him and upon hearing the news about the gambling organization being arrested, he orders the catfish brothers to go to the police station to bring the Rabbit back. When the Rabbit returns, he says that he can buy another house but is only afraid of losing his grandson.
Biography[]
Mr. Năm Hên is a former war veteran that retired in the countryside. He married and had a granddaughter named Xô, but his wife later passed away. He once found the Seven-Colored Rabbit when the latter was still a baby and adopted him. The Rabbit grows up to be very mischievous while Xô has a poor boyfriend named Quăn. The two's antics have caused him headaches throughout the series, but he loves them nevertheless.
Mr. Năm also has a pond populated with many water creatures, all of whom he consider his grandchildren as well, most notably the catfish brothers. When the Rabbit builds the fish bridge and pollutes the pond, the brothers beg Mr. Năm to side with them but he can't bring himself to, so they declare war instead.
