Mr. Nesmith is the deuteragonist and a major character of Planet Sheen, he is a intellectual chimpanzee who serves as Sheen Estevez's sidekick of the show.
He is voiced by Bob Joles.
History[]
Mr. Nesmith started off as an ordinary astronaut chimp who was launched into space until he crashed on Zeenu and the atmospheric climate increased his intelligence and gave the ability to talk. He usually is Sheen's voice of reason similar to Jimmy Neutron. A running gag throughout the series is that Sheen is always calling him a monkey despite him being an ape.
Appearance[]
Mr. Nesmith is brown and tanish. He has white eyes with black pupils, gray boots, and a red hat. His spacesuit is white with blue and red lines and the planet Saturn on it. Nesmith has brown arms, a peach nose, and two ears.
Personality[]
He serves as the calm, composed if sarcastic and mild-mannered voice of reason to Sheen Estevez's goofball antics. He doesn't like being called an monkey despite telling Sheen that he is an ape. Overall, he serves as the genius straight-man to Sheen, guiding him of right and wrong to defuse Sheen's chaotic situations and always correcting Sheen on his most of obvious mistakes and does his best to help him with anything, something close to Jimmy Neutron's original personality (except more patient and without having an knack for inventing). Nesmith is also a scapegoat who normally gets the brunt of his situations for no apparent reason a large majority of the time, and frequently puts up with Sheen's relentless idiocy on a daily basis.
He's a very smart chimpanzee, often explaining how space travel and the effects of said technology he came across, has boosted his I.Q and got the ability to speak English. He is also level-headed when it comes to dealing with the Sheen’s obnoxious stupidity. He is also a pretty active character since he likes to read and invent things to help out his friends. Whenever he makes a mistake, he usually learns from his faults and fully utilizes them to improve his results.
As a genius, he makes sure he’s always thinking things through to make sure his plans and gadgets work, and also use his learnings from his mistakes to increase chances of succeeding at rebuilding Sheen’s rocket.
On top of that, Nesmith cares very much about his friends and will do everything in his power to make sure they're safe and happy, and is definitely someone to rely on in the his group, especially compared to the more reckless Sheen.

- Mr. Nesmith is based off of Michael Nesmith of The Monkees. His similarities include wearing a wool cap like the real Mr. Nesmith did.
