Mr. Potato Head, also known as Potato Head, is a supporting character in the Toy Story franchise. He is one of Woody's five best friends, Mrs. Potato Head's husband, and the Little Green Men's adoptive father.
He was voiced by the late Don Rickles, who also voiced Cornwall in Quest for Camelot.
Potato Head is a rather cynical Mr. Potato Head doll, of the common design of Playskool. Andy often casts him as a villain in his games, which seems to be the reason he can be so cynical and irascible, being cast as the bad guy so often.
Even though he is smart-alecky, hard-boiled, rude, and has an acerbic point of view, he has a heart of gold deep down, he loves his wife Mrs. Potato Head, and is prepared to go to limitless lengths to save his friends. In the second film, when Woody was kidnapped, he showed some shock and later showed some sadness when Woody refused to go back home. Mr. Potato Head appears to be partners with Hamm as they are seen high-fiving each other whenever something exciting or victorious happens.
Despite being anti-heroic in Toy Story, Potato Head becomes much more amicable after Mrs. Potato Head's arrival.

Trivia[]
Mr. Potato Head's phrase "Ya hockey puck!" is a tribute to his late voice actor Don Rickles back when he would regularly call people hockey pucks in his stand-up routines.
Mr. Potato Head is the first character in the series to appear on-screen.
He is based off the 1980s and 1990s design but altered in design, for instance: In the Toy Story universe, this Mr Potato Head has seperate eyes and seperate feet he also has eyebrows which have an addition of being seperate, while in the modern age, the Mr. Potato Heads in the real world have connected eyes and connected feet due to the potential choking hazard presented by the smaller pieces, eyebrows are also rarely seen on the toy either for the same reason, however the early releases of the TS version feature the handlebar moustache (as notably seen on the box) which can be used as eyebrows to represent the films one if the user puts them upside down in the eyes peg. None of his parts are appear identical to the real one, save for the bendy arms. However, unlike him in the films, they are not removable on the real one.
Early concept arts feature him and his parts in a style much closer to the real toy.
It's believed Mr Potato Head was inspired by the one from Mr Potato Heads bucket of parts from 1987, hence having a bowler hat which was first featured in the said set, including the flexible arms(which are not including on TS Potato Heads releases, and instead being traded for removable non bendable arms).
It's possible he comes with multiple accessories just like Mrs. Potato Head and his possible inspiration from the set. Although most of their accessories are unseen in the films, with the exception of his angry eyes and extra pair of shoes.
He claims his box says that he can only be played by children over the age of three, although the real life ones for example the 1995 and 1999 release of him says ages two and up.
Thanks to the Toy Story franchise, the real life Mr Potato Heads went selling like hot cakes.
In Toy Story, he didn't have a storage compartment; however, it appears out of nowhere in the second film and beyond. The same thing happens with the hole on his head for his hat which is also absent in the former. However the hole on his head was actually not present in the 1980s releases for the toy due to the hats lacking pegs, but was later given one in the 90s so the hats can be supported with ease.
