Mr. Roarke is a character in the ABC television series Fantasy Island.
He was portrayed by the late Ricardo Montalbán, who is known for portraying Khan Noonien Singh in Star Trek.
Apparently immortal, Roarke is an engimatic being who had been friends with a number of famous people throughout history such as Helen of Troy. He also encounters a number of other immortal beings, such as the angel Uriel and even faces down the devil on occasion when the devil attempts to take souls that he is not entitled to. In the late 20th century, Roarke works as an overseer of a mysterious island in the south Pacific where guests can live out fantasies for a price. Mr. Roarke makes it clear that once a fantasy begun he was generally powerless to stop the fantasy, but would intervene if a fantasy turned dangerous for a guest. He uses the fantasies to teach important life lessons to his guests.
