Mr. Wong is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Kate Thomas) of the 2007 comedy movie Norbit. He is Norbit's adoptive father.
He is portrayed by Eddie Murphy, who also portrayed Norbit Albert Rice in the same movie, Donkey in the Shrek films, Mushu in Mulan, Prince Akeem Joffer in Coming to America, Professor Sherman Klump in the Nutty Professor films, The Captain in Meet Dave, Charlie Hinton in Daddy Day Care, Akel Foley in the Beverly Hills Cop films, and Pluto Nash in The Adventures of Pluto Nash.
Biography[]
Adopting Norbit[]
Mr. Wong is an elderly man who has a passion for whaling.After Norbit gets left at the orphanage, Mr. Wong finds Norbit outside and decides to adopt him.
Norbit's Wedding[]
Mr. Wong makes a toast at Norbit's wedding and tells a story on how well he raised Norbit after he adopted him and joked about Rasputia's weight.
When Norbit was gonna leave town he finds Mr. Wong going for a walk around his neighborhood and finds Norbit holding a suitcase trying to leave town. He tells Norbit to never run away from his problems and tells him to be strong as a warrior.
Kate's wedding with Deion[]
Norbit saves Kate from marrying Deion so he wouldn't use her for her money and was chased down by Rasputia's brothers. When Rasputia was about to hit Norbit with shovel, He was saved by Mr. Wong by calling her a whale which distracted her. He throws a spear which speared her in the bottom and caused her to scream and run out of town as the townspeople chase the Latimores out of town. Norbit and Kate kiss as Mr. Wong watches them becomes proud of Norbit now that he is with Kate.
Personality[]
Mr. Wong is an elderly, xenophobic man who enjoys whaling with his spear. He cares a lot for Norbit, despite being racist against blacks. He has big hatred towards Rasputia and her brothers, as he would call Rasputia a fat gorilla during a toast at Norbit's wedding, which adds to Wong's goofy, childish personality. Mr. Wong was never timid from the Latimores, When the Latimore brothers tried to get Wong to sign their contract to sell his restaurant which he refused. They attempt to beat him up until Mr. Wong grabs his spear with quick speed.
