Mukho, also known as the Mushroom Mage, is a minor character in the Netflix animated series The Dragon Prince. He is the leader of a group of sentient mushrooms who live in Fungi Lane, who ends up finding Zubeia and take care of her injuries, thus saving her from the Sunforge's corruption.
He is voiced by Anand Rajaram.
History[]
Mukho is an Earthblood Elf who takes care of the sentient mushrooms of Fungi Lane, as well as a mage with great healing abilities. He uses a mushroom hat on himself and others in order to show to the mushrooms there that they are friendly, as he prefers to keep his and the mushrooms' locations hidden from outsiders. He first appears when Zubeia falls near the Fungi Lane after blacking out from her injuries caused by getting bitten by a banter infected by the Sunforge's corruption, with Mukho healing her injuries and saving her from her infection.
To get Zubeia out of the woods and bring her to a tree so she can rest, Mukho had her eat mush-mallows so she would shrink and be small enough for him to move her. A few days later, Soren, Corvus and Zym went to find Zubeia and ended up discovering the mushrooms in Fungi Lane. Then, a giant sentient mushroom that serves as the place's guard uses spores to put them unconscious, with Mukho putting mushrooms hats on them to show they are not hostile to the mushrooms there.
Later after the trio woke up, Soren believes that they were turning into mushrooms and takes off his hat, but before the mushroom guard could attack Soren, Mukho told him why he should wear the hat, and while Soren is annoyed, he decides to use it. Mukho then tells the trio that he was taking care of Zubeia, and tells Zym going to see her would probably make her feel better.
After guiding them to a tree where Zubeia was, Mukho gives Zym a mush-mallow so he could shrink and get inside the tree to see his mother. After doing so, the group would leave with Pyrrah at dusk, but not before Soren used the mush-mallow to make himself small enough to get into Hat's head, saying that he is Hat's hat, with Mukho laughing at his joke.
Personality[]
Mukho is a cherful individual who likes to sing his song, and wants to protect his mushroom friends by keeping their exitence in the Fungi Lane secret. He also is shown to be selfless, as after finding Zubeia dying from her Sunforge infection, he healed her and brought her to a tree so she could rest. Despite desiring to keep the lane hidden, he does not harm trespassers, and instead avoids violence if it is unecessary. He is also extremely polite and isn't offended by Soren's rudeness and initial agressiveness towards him.

- Mukho's name is deriven from Mukhopadhyay, which in Hindi, Bengali and Sanskrit, stands for principal teacher.
- Mukho shares part of the same surname as one of the show's writers, Neil Mukhopadhyay.
- His song "The Mushroom Mage", is based on the nursery rhyme of "The Muffin Man".
