Munki-gu is a major antagonist, but sometimes an anti-hero, in the television series PJ Masks.
He is a mischievous monkey and has been trapped in a stone for a thousand years. He is voiced by Daniel Pathan.
History[]
A sorcerer punished Munki-gu for being too misbehaving a thousand years ago by turning him into a stone statue. The statue was kept on Mystery Mountain with other artifacts. He was stripped of his flying boots and placed into a tiny cage.
Night Ninja acquired the statue in "PJ Party Mountain," where he impersonated An Yu with it. Munki-gu was a statue, but as a result of his messing with the statue, he was able to move around independently and acquire some level of consciousness. In order to assist her in capturing the statue, An Yu invited the PJ Masks to Mystery Mountain. Instead, Gekko accidently freed Munki-gu entirely by three times stroking the statue on the head.
Gekko unsuccessfully sought to discipline Munki-gu. Munki-gu volunteered to help Gekko dance to soothe the mountain after his activities enraged it, but he fooled Gekko into returning his flying boots in exchange for what he claimed were dancing shoes. Munki-gu used his flying boots to leave the mountain and enter the city after the mountain had calmed down, which Catboy and Owlette were hold a grudge against Gekko at the next night.
Personality[]
At first, Munki-gu appears to be an innocent monkey. However, he then reveals himself to be mischievous and naughty once Gekko accidentally patted his head 3 times. Munki-gu is also shown to be a very disobedient monkey as he refuses to listen to others, especially the PJ Masks. As naughty as he is, he's also shown to be a very funny and silly monkey as he likes playing and pulling pranks on others.
Appearance[]
Munki-gu is a gray-furred, tan-skinned monkey. He also has red designs on his face and brown eyes. In addition, he sports a red and gold blouse, a black and yellow vest, and a flower-adorned black belt.

Trivia[]
- Munki-gu is the only nighttime villain who wasn't part of the Bad Guys United.
- While his mischievous actions don't go beyond, in "Mission Munki-gu" when he and Catboy are in the sky factory, he was interested in how the controls worked, he went through all of the Fly Bots and pushed all of the buttons. This caused the factory to get out of control and fly into space toward the sun, even though it wasn't made to do that. And could have kill himself, Catboy, Robot, Robette and the Fly Bots, however that is more of an accident.
- He may be a reference to Sun Wukong from Journey to the West. Both are monkeys who were punished by being imprisoned for several years for being naughty, but were later released by the heroes. (Tang Sangzang, Gekko)
- Both also have the ability to imitate (voice, voice and form) others.
- Both can produce an infinite amount of stuff (bananas, clones)
- Both can fly (nimbus cloud, flying boots)
- Munki-gu's ability to mimic voices may be a reference to Phonepanzee from Power Rangers Ninja Steel.
