Murphy is a major character in the 2015 Cartoon Network original series, We Bare Bears, and is a supporting character in its 2020 series finale film, We Bare Bears: The Movie. Like her fellow Poppy Rangers, Murphy is a brave and adventurous little girl scout/park ranger and troop who has a close friendship with Ranger Tabes and the Bears, more especially Grizzly.
Murphy shows high commitment to her aforementioned fellow Poppy Rangers, but Murphy is more enthusiastic and optimistic in comparison to the other Poppy Rangers, and seems to offer the most amount of reassurance and motivation to Grizz out of the rest of the Poppies. Outside of her career as a park ranger like Ranger Tabes, Murphy is typically seen casually playing with the other Poppy Rangers and having fun, more especially by having tissue and pillow fights with the other Poppy Rangers and/or flying kites with them, demonstrated in Hurricane Hal.
Murphy is voiced by Stella Balick-Karrer.
Physical appearance[]
Murphy is a slightly chubby young girl who is about the average size for children comparable to her age. She has short, shoulder-length straight hair that has a coffee brown coloration and is typically pulled behind her ears. Murphy's "Poppy Ranger" outfit consists of a light-moss green short-sleeved shirt, overlaid with a yellow bandanna around the collar with a single olive stripe across the middle. As well, this includes green-toned khaki shorts, tennis shoes of the same color, and tube socks underneath. Over-top the entire outfit is a dark green sash.
Like Grizz Bear, Murphy wields a backpack, but her backpack is colored red with a symbol of a poppy behind it.
Personality[]
Like her fellow Poppy Rangers, Murphy is kindhearted, spoiled sweet, affable, selfless, harmonizing, brave, and adventurous, typically following the commands of their superior Ranger Tabes and Grizz Bear, even if it leads all of them into severe endangerment. Furthermore, Murphy shows high loyalty, especially towards her fellow Poppy Rangers, demonstrated by Murphy working with the Poppy Rangers as an excellent heroic team, saving Wallace from Hurricane Hal and assisting the three bears in defeating Agent Trout, leading to the latter's deserved incarceration. Additionally, Murphy is hyperaware of potential danger and warns the bears and Ranger Tabes to be aware of it as well, shown when Murphy warned Tabes that crumbling walls are a sign of erosion, and she typically equips a flashlight in case of darkness.
Murphy aspires to be a geologist when she grows up, and she is described as "cheerful and patient," meaning that Murphy is more enthusiastic and optimistic, but also more cautious and patient in comparison to the other Poppy Rangers. Furthermore, Murphy shows the least amount of grudge against Grizz's incompetence out of the Poppies, with her most notable moment of grudge and pessimism against Grizz is his incompetence in the annual Ranger Games proving himself to be untrustworthy due to his lack of skill in kickball, which she is immediately remorseful of, and acts as a voice of reason to motivate and encourage him afterwards.
Murphy's valor and bond towards the other Poppies, however, occasionally breaks, demonstrated when Murphy and the other Poppy Rangers scream in fear and embrace Grizz Bear for safety when thunder strikes, heavily implying that Murphy and the Poppy Rangers have pure fear of thunderstorms, such as the Hurricane Hal. Additionally, in the episode, Lord of the Poppies, as Grizz's incompetence hits the last straw of Murphy's patience, she, alongside the other Poppy Rangers, eventually succumb to hunger and insanity, to the point that she decides to devour Grizz and turn against him, which references how Panda Bear and Ice Bear became primal animals in the episode, Primal. Even before that, however, Murphy is even the first one to start off insane from hunger by chewing on a tree branch, thinking that it "tastes like chicken," and goes on to eat various inedible things, such as a wooden log, giving Murphy somewhat of a predator-like personality. Not only that, Murphy seems to crave deeply for leadership, which is what her fellow Poppy Rangers are also after, demonstrated when Grizz accidentally causes the Poppy Rangers to begin a "Ranger War," turning against and fighting each other for the guidebook, which Wallace stole from Grizz upon kidnapping and entrapping him to cook him for food, which is due to Grizz's "shoulder angels."
Along with the Ranger War, Murphy is also shown to be somewhat lethal, like the other Poppy Rangers, shown when she and the Poppy Rangers were about to eat Grizz out of appetite before Tabes shows up with pizza, despite being initially reluctant about it, but this was due to Grizz's incompetence.

- Like the other Poppy Rangers, Murphy has never had an interaction with Panda Bear and Ice Bear, but would still show an affable and kindhearted disposition towards them nonetheless if she did interact with them.
