Take me! Today I've learnt what it means to be a knight, and a knight should always be there for others!
~ NK-422 offering their help to Robin.

NK-422 is a minor protagonist overall in the LEGO Nexo Knights franchise, but also the main protagonist of the comic "A Bot in Shining Armour!" from the LEGO Nexo Knights magazine. They are a protocol Squirebot who once had to protect Merlok 2.0 from Stone Monsters all by themself.

Biography[]

NK-422 was assigned to the Fortrex for a week as Ava and Macy used it to patrol Knighton. When the mobile fortress came under attack from overwhelming Stone Monsters forces, it had to be evacuated, but not without removing Merlok 2.0's hard drive, which was entrusted to NK-422. During the escape, the Squirebot fell off Ava's Micro Falcon and wound up alone and easy prey for any monster.

To find out how to get to Knightonia, NK-422 decided to try and turn the hard drive on, bringing Merlok 2.0 online. The Squirebot introduced themself to the digital wizard, and asked for his assistance. After some time, the two encountered a group of monsters blocking the bridge. Merlok encouraged NK-422 to fight them off, and when they expressed doubt as to how they could stand up to monsters when they were so weak, Merlok reminded them that nobody was born a knight, as even the Nexo Knights had to learn how to fight. With a few words of inspiration, NK-422 managed to break through the blockade. Later, with another word of advice from Merlok, they avoided the Stone Monsters in the Dark Mine by outrunning them.

Just as Knightonia was close at hand, however, the bot was ambushed by a Thundrestrox. Robin came to assist them with a Triple Nexo Shield in tow. Since there was no battle suit around, however, and Merlok's hard drive was running low on power, he was at a loss as to how deal with the monsters, until NK-422 suggested connecting them both to their body. When Robin managed to do so, NK-422 and Merlok 2.0, now sharing a body, combined their efforts to defeat the Thundrestrox. In Knightonia, Robin separated the Squirebot and Merlok, who expressed enjoyment at having a physical body once more, giving Robin an idea to build him his own battle suit. NK-422 volunteered to devote their circuitry containing knightly skills to the mech's design, heavily implying that they (or at least part of them) ended up becoming the Mechlok body Merlok used to fight Monstrox in the Season 4 finale.

Personality[]

NK-422's story is a prime example of "zero to hero" archetype: they start out as a nervous, hapless robot entrusted with more than they can handle, but learn to take responsibility and overcome their troubles as time goes on, managing to stand up and fight in the face of a threat, as well as use their wits to avoid such threats.

Trivia[]

  • NK-422 is the only Squirebot with a known production number.
