Naltuk is a minor character in the 2017 video game Horizon Zero Dawn, specifically its DLC Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds.
He is a tribe member of the Banuk, who serves as the insecure apprentice of the former Song's Edge werak's Shaman and his mentor Ourea, who was posted to observe the mysterious appearance of repairing machines known as the Control Towers, moments after the disastrous expedition to Thunder's Drum that Ourea and Aratak spearheaded, which resulted in numerous casualties.
When Aloy, the Nora Huntress, later arrives at the Cut, Naltuk later witnessed Aloy's uncanny combat abilities when he observed her destroying the Control Tower, thus giving him the hope needed for his mentor. After Ourea's death, Naltuk succeeds her as the shaman of Song's Edge.
He is voiced by Robbie Daymond, who voiced Goro Akechi in Persona 5.
Appearance[]
Naltuk is a dark-skinned young man, who has black hair and black eyes. He is often seen wearing the traditional Banuk outfit.
Personality[]
Naltuk lacks confidence as a result of his inexperience and poor social status. However, he is adamant about demonstrating his value to the werak. Naltuk is a competent shaman in his own right, while not being the shaman Ourea was, his own role model that he looked up for.
Background[]
After finishing his training, Ourea chose Naltuk to be her apprentice. Naltuk accepted the invitation happily despite his disbelief that such a renowned shaman would pick someone without any prior experience.
Ourea gave Naltuk the command to investigate the strange Control Towers, floral-like machines capable of repairing other machines, that had started to appear across The Cut following the unsuccessful attack on Thunder's Drum. Later, Aloy came up to him looking for Ourea to get information on the Daemon. Naltuk gave her directions to Ourea after Aloy destroyed the Tower and the neighbouring robots because he believed she would offer his mentor the optimism she desired.
Naltuk was appointed the werak's shaman upon Ourea's passing. He assists Aratak and Aloy in locating the five Fireclaws who fled Cauldron EPSILON despite being unsure of his abilities.
Abilities[]
- Skilled Tracker - Naltuk is an adept tracker, who was able to deduce the exact locations of the five Fireclaws that escaped from EPSILON, which gave Aloy the advantage to destroy the machines.
- Shamanic Knowledge - While not on par with Ourea's level of Banuk Shamanism, Naltuk still has adequate knowledge of the Banuk lore.
