Naoto Kurogane is the main protagonist of the BlazBlue: Bloodedge Experience series. He is gifted with the Hunter's Eye and is the servant of Raquel Alucard. His life-force value hovered around 9,810 until he became Raquel's servant. He became a playable character in BlazBlue: Centralfiction, and revealing that Naoto's original counterpart in the BlazBlue world had been long death, whereas the current Naoto is from the Bloodedge Experince possibility.
He is voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki in the Japanese version and was voiced by the late Billy Kametz in the English version.
Information[]
Naoto was a fairly average student in all respects at Shin Kawahama First High School. He lives in an apartment in the same building as his cousin, Haruka Hayami. His life starts to change once a mysterious blonde girl came into the picture; the girl was being chased by a strange man with a life force of 0. Out of curiosity, he ran after the two; in the dead-end, he saved her from said strange, grotesque insect man, but Naoto got his right arm cut off in the process and was slowly bleeding to death. The girl, named Raquel Alucard, offered to save his life in exchange for him to find the Azure. In the next morning, he wakes up to find that he's technically dead (his life force being 0) but Raquel has shared her immense life force with him, but doing so would eventually turn him into a vampire within a year's time - unless he does what she made him promise to.
Personality[]
A young man trying to lead a normal and peaceful life, Naoto has had harsh circumstances thrown his way, shaping him into the person he is now. Despite the tragedies in his life, such as having lost most of his family, Naoto never lets the trauma surface, and instead aims to live a normal life. Regardless, Naoto can never stop himself from helping those in trouble, even if it means disrupting his ordinary life. There are times when he doesn't think out his good-willed actions, diving headfirst into any kind of situation where he thinks he can help others.
He likes to avoid conflict and people, and preferred taking 30 minute walks to school instead of getting the bus since it would mean less interaction. He is not antisocial, but just dislikes crowds. There are times where Naoto can be socially awkward and not know what to do, but most of the time, it is because he has been thrown into a ridiculously abnormal situation.
Despite Saya Terumi having ruined his life, he still loves his younger sister and will protect her from anyone who would harm her. His cousin, Haruka Hayami, is another important factor in Naoto's life, but it is Raquel Alucard who has made the biggest impact. The young vampire often gets on Naoto's nerves and sometimes treats him as less than human, but the two are as close as they can be, sharing a tight bond. For any of these women, including his aunt Yuki Hayami, Naoto will go far out of his way and take on any odds for them.
In his spare time, Naoto likes watching cats and playing video games, including those in the visual novel genre.
Appearance[]
Naoto has brown eyes, a pale complexion and eye-length, styled brown hair with an ahoge poking out of the top. He wears the uniform of Shin Kawahama First High School; a black jacket and accompanying black jeans.
When using Bloodedge, his hair turns a shocking white and his eyes change to a fierce deep red, making him resemble the other Bloodedge - Ragna the Bloodedge. Additionally, a strange, red, glowing, rune-like symbols appear on his hand when utilizing the Bloodedge.
In Centralfiction, he now wears a modified black collar skintight jacket with short sleeves and cross emblems, black fingerless gloves with red guards, with his right arm tightly covered by a material, black trouser with red belt, and black-red boots with metal guards. A red cross with white outline appears on the back of his jacket and on his trouser, it is identical to the one that Rachel and Raquel bear on their own clothes. Additionally there is another big, yellow, strange symbol on the back of his jacket, right above the cross symbol. He has a similar marking as Ragna.
Powers and Abilities[]
While not physically powerful at first, after his death he gained more strength and speed as well as the ability Regeneration that heals any wounds at the cost of Raquel's life-value. And much like Ragna, his arm that was severed became replaced by an arm made by Clavis Alucard that was more powerful than his real right arm.
His drive is Bloodedge, which lets him create weapons using his own blood. He also has a special trait known as Enhancer, which gives his drive, specials, and Distortion Drives additional properties if you use them in the middle of a dash. In the case of his drive, this can also be achieved by holding the drive button. His Overdrive, Blood Repulsor, not only makes his Drive attacks automatically enhanced, but it also changes Naoto's appearance: his hair becomes white and spikes up.
His Exceed Accel Grim of Phantom (GOP) starts with him punching the foe in the gut. Then he knees them upward and then forms a giant axe made of blood and chops down on his opponent as he falls. His Astral, Edge of Eternity (EOE), has him create a large scythe out of blood and repeatedly slash his opponent with it before charging the blade with dark energy and unleashing a final strike that creates a wave of blood, erasing his opponent from existence.
