Natalie Artemis is the main protagonist from the 2020 film, Monster Hunter.
Biography[]
In reality, the U.S. In the desert, Army Ranger Captain Natalie Artemis and her UN security squad look for a group of troops who have gone missing. They discover the bodies of the missing soldiers and their vehicles when a severe storm drags them into a gateway to the New World. The bones of a Dah'ren Mohran gives the group their first glimpse of the terrible world they have inhabited. The Hunter, watching the group, sends out a warning signal as a territorial Diablos comes for them. The Diablos, impervious to explosives and gunfire, strikes and murders two squad members.
Nerscylla, a colony of spider-like monsters, attacks the survivors as they hide in a cave on a rocky protrusion. More Nerscylla arrive and swarm the others as they attempt to save Artemis after she is injected with a paralyzing venom. Artemis escapes the Nerscylla's lair by burning the pursuing creatures after discovering her team dead or infested with Nerscylla spawn. She encounters the Hunter above ground, and following a struggle, they reluctantly decide to work together. Artemis discovers that the Sky Tower, a building across the desert, is responsible for creating the portals. The Hunter discloses that in order to safely traverse the desert and arrive at the Tower, they must eliminate the Diablos. After learning how to use the Hunter's special bladed weapons, Artemis assists him in setting up a trap so the Diablos can use Nerscylla venom to kill it. Artemis delivers the final strike, and the attack is effective, but the Hunter suffers serious injuries. Dutifully, Artemis builds a homemade stretcher and takes him across the desert.
When the two arrive at an oasis, they are met by Apceros, herbivorous creatures that resemble tortoises. As a joke, Hunter leads Artemis to a river, where a Cephalos awaits her. "Bait!" Hunter laughs and points at her as he swiftly destroys it. An entourage led by the Admiral rescues Artemis and the Hunter after a fire-breathing wyvern, known as a Rathalos, flies by and causes the Apceros to stampede. He reveals that the first civilization to travel between planets constructed the Sky Tower and used the monsters to defend it. In order to get home, Artemis consents to assist in the Rathalos' murder.
Artemis returns to her realm after falling through the portal during the ensuing conflict. The Rathalos appears and starts causing mayhem since the portal fails to seal in time. It is slowed down by Artemis long enough for the Hunter to sneak through the portal and fire the lethal bullet. Artemis chooses to return to the New World and stay with the Hunters even though she could stay. Shortly before Gore Magala, another flying monster, appears, the Admiral moves toward her. He points out that there will always be a chance that monsters will enter Earth through the portal as long as it is open. Artemis decides that their main goal is now to figure out how to destroy the Sky Tower.
