Nathan "Nate" Lambert is one of the main characters of Pacific Rim: Uprising. He is an old friend of Jake from their academy days. He co-pilots Gipsy Avenger with Jake and trains Jaeger cadets.

He is portrayed by Scott Eastwood, who also portrayed Little Nobody in the Fast & Furious films.

Personality

Nate is undoubtedly hard on the cadets and reminds Jake that the Kaiju War was going on while they were being trained - but it's pretty clear he cares about the cadets he's training (to the point of dismissing Amara and Viktoriya fistfighting in front of him as an irrelevance) because he genuinely views them as part of the Jaeger-pilot family and wants them to have the same chances he had.

Story

Past

Nate joins the Pan Pacific Defense Corps to become a Jaeger pilot. He trains alongside Jake Pentecost, the son of Stacker Pentecost, and the two become as close as brothers. Eventually, Jake decides to leave the program, damaging his friendship with Nate.

Nate excels in the Jaeger Program and is considered one of the best pilots within the restructured Pan Pacific Defense Corps.

Pacific Rim: Uprising

When threatened with jail time, Jake Pentecost is forced to cooperate with the PPDC and must work with Nate when he begins training cadets to pilot the Mark-6 Jaegers. Nate must pilot Gipsy Avenger with Jake, but because of how he left the PPDC, the two cannot see eye-to-eye.

During the battle with the Mega-Kaiju, Nate is seriously injured when the Kaiju's tail pierces Gipsy Avenger's cockpit. With Nate in no shape to continue the fight and Jake unable to solo pilot, Amara Namani enters the Jagger to take Nate's place. Nate agrees to step aside and leave the fight to Jake and Amara and he is ejected from Gipsy Avenger by Amara.

After the death of the Mega-Kaiju, Nate locates Newton Geiszler, now the Precursor Emissary, and knocks him unconscious with a single punch as Newt plans to unleash a Plan B. To the relief of Jake and the PPDC, Nate calls in to inform them that he is alive and has captured Newton. Nate congratulates Jake and Amara on their win against the Mega-Kaiju.
